PIKOVIT® Forte contains the 11 most important vitamins in amounts corresponding to the recommended doses for children aged 7 years and older.

The B vitamins (Bl, B2, B6, B12, pantothenic acid and nicotinamide) are involved in the metabolism of carbohydrates, proteins and fats. Folic acid is necessary for normal synthesis, regeneration and functioning of blood cells.

Vitamin A is necessary for the development of epithelial cells and the synthesis of visual pigment. Vitamin D regulates calcium intake and promotes proper mineralization of bones and teeth. Vitamin C promotes the absorption of iron and is involved in many redox processes in the body.

Vitamin E is a physiological antioxidant that protects cell membranes and supports cell function.

PIKOVIT® Forte does not contain sugar.

Pharmacokinetics.

The water-soluble vitamins (B vitamins, vitamin C and biotin) are well absorbed in amounts corresponding to the daily requirements of the body. Amounts greater than the tissue saturation level are excreted with the urine and sometimes with the feces. Regular intake of these vitamins is important to maintain the necessary concentrations in the tissues because they accumulate in the body in limited amounts.

When taken orally, fat-soluble vitamins A and D are well absorbed in the small intestine in the presence of fat. Absorption of vitamin E is quite weak (25 – 85% of the dose).

How to take, the dosage

The tablets should be kept in the mouth until they are completely absorbed.

Children from 7 years: 1 tablet once a day after a meal. In case of poor appetite the child should be given 1 tablet a day for 2 months.

Special Instructions

Consult your doctor if other vitamin preparations need to be taken at the same time.

Patients with diabetes may take PIKOVIT Forte. However, it should be remembered that one lozenge contains 0.6 g maltitol. Insulin is required for the metabolism of maltitol, although due to its slow hydrolysis and absorption in the gastrointestinal tract, there is little need for insulin.

The energy value per lozenge is approximately 6 kJ (1.4 kcal).

Contraindications

Overdose

In case of overdose developing against the background of taking high doses of the drug for more than 1 month, hypervitaminosis of vitamins A and D may develop.

Long-term use of high doses of vitamin B6 may cause development of peripheral neuropathy.
