Pharmacodynamics
Phenystil Penzivilir cream is designed to treat herpes (colds) on the lips (Herpes labialis).
Penciclovir is the active ingredient, which is an antiviral agent, against Herpes simplex viruses type 1 and 2, Varicella zoster virus. The virus can remain in an inactive form in the body for a long period of time. When activated (e.g. due to fatigue, cold, flu), the virus begins to multiply, which leads to the development of “fever” in the form of blister rashes, especially often seen on or around the lips.
Penciclovir blocks the virus and stops it from multiplying. Use of the drug leads to faster recovery, reduces the intensity of pain, and shortens the period of risk of transmission of the viral infection.
Pharmacokinetics
The drug is practically not subject to systemic absorption when applied externally. Modern analytical methods can not detect penciclovir in the blood or urine of healthy volunteers after the use of Fenistil Penzivir cream in concentrations many times greater than therapeutic. Penziclovir penetrates into the affected cells quickly converts to penziclovir triphosphate, which has pharmacological activity and persists in the affected cells for 12 hours.

How to take, the dosage
Adults and children from 12 years of age: Squeeze a small amount of cream onto the fingertip and apply to the affected area every 2 hours (about 8 times a day).
The cream can also be applied with a cotton swab or a disposable applicator (for packs containing applicators). The therapy course is over a period of 4 days.
Special Instructions
It is necessary to wash your hands thoroughly before and after applying the cream. Treatment should be started as soon as possible, at the first signs of infection. However, even with the development of herpes in the blister stage, the use of Fenistil® Penzivir cream shortens the cure time (heals the affected areas, reduces pain and shortens the period of peeling of the crust formed from the viral exposure).
Penistil Penzivir cream should be consulted with the doctor before using if the patient has a compromised immune system or is unsure if they have herpes.
The drug should only be used on herpes-affected areas on the lips and skin around the mouth. It is not recommended to apply the cream to the mucosal areas of the mouth, nose, eyes and genitalia.
The complete course of therapy with Fenistil Penzivir cream should be continued for 4 days to achieve the greatest effect of the therapy, even if the signs of infection disappear after 1-2 days of treatment.
The attending physician should be consulted if the condition worsens or there is no improvement after 4 days of therapy.
Impact on the ability to drive and operate machinery. No effect.
