Pharmacological properties

The drug has sedative and antispasmodic effects.

The extract of rhizomes with roots of valerian has a calming effect.

Melissa leaf extract has calming and antispasmodic, peppermint leaf extract has antispasmodic and moderate calming action.

Indications

Insomnia (difficulty falling asleep) associated with increased nervous excitability.

Composition

Pearmint leaf extract (dry) – 25,000 mg;

Magnesium hydrosilicate, 8,100 mg;

magnesium stearate – 2,200 mg;

colloidal anhydrous silica – 3,200 mg;

Titanium dioxide E171 – 1.3690%; iron oxide red E172 – 0.7527%; quinoline yellow E104 – 0.0153%; sunset yellow E110 (sunset yellow) – 0.0368%; E122 azorubin – 0.0438%; E128 methyl parahydroxybenzoate – 0.2945%; E126 propyl parahydroxy benzoate – 0.1241%; gelatin – 97.3638%.

How to take, the dosage

Ingestion with a small amount of water, for insomnia, regardless of meals.

In case of insomnia, adults and children over 12 years of age should take 1-2 capsules 1 hour before going to bed.

Do not take the drug continuously for more than 1.5-2 months. The course of treatment is 2-4 weeks.

To increase the duration of treatment it is necessary to consult a doctor.

There is no withdrawal syndrome when treatment is discontinued.

Interaction

The drug increases the effect of sleeping pills and other drugs that depress the central nervous system (CNS), hypotensive drugs (in particular, of central action), analgesics, which requires adjustment of doses.

Special Instructions

In patients with GERD, symptoms may worsen. If symptoms of insomnia persist or worsen while using the drug, it is necessary to consult a physician. The drug should not be used continuously for more than 1.5-2 months.

Impact on ability to drive, operate machinery

When using the drug, caution should be exercised while performing potentially hazardous activities requiring increased concentration and quick psychomotor reactions (driving vehicles, operating moving machinery, operator’s work).

Contraindications

With caution: patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).

Side effects

Allergic reactions (hyperemia, skin rash, peripheral edema, allergic dermatitis), bronchospasm, with prolonged use – constipation.

Overdose

A single dose of 20 g of valerian rhizomes and roots (approximately 39 capsules of Persen® Night) may cause a feeling of fatigue, stomach cramps, chest tightness, dizziness, hand tremors, dilated pupils, which may disappear on their own within 24 hours.

In case of overdose, it is advisable to perform gastric lavage and seek medical attention.
