Pentasa is anti-inflammatory.

Pentasa reduces the formation of leukotrienes and cytokinins, neutralizes free radicals, and inhibits leukocyte chemotaxis.

Indications

Non-specific ulcerative colitis; Crohn’s disease.

magnesium stearate;

talc.

How to take, the dosage

Rectally, adults – 1 suppository 1-2 times a day in the rectum until the resistance of the muscle stomas stops (before insertion, the intestines are emptied, the suppository is moistened with water to facilitate insertion, for hygiene use a rubber glove).

If the suppository is withdrawn within 10 minutes, another suppository should be inserted.

Special Instructions

In some cases of allergic reaction to sulfasalazine, it is possible to develop intolerance to Pentas as well (risk of allergy to salicylates).

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity (including to salicylates or other components of the drug); marked liver and kidney function abnormalities.

Side effects

A feeling of discomfort in the abdomen, nausea, vomiting, headache, diarrhea, skin rash in the form of urticaria or eczema;

. Very rarely – pain in muscles and joints, temporary hair loss, liver and kidney function disorders, pericarditis, myocarditis, pancreatitis, changes in blood count (leukopenia, granulocytopenia, thrombocytopenia, anemia).

Pregnancy use

In pregnancy and during lactation, prescribe only when the positive effect outweighs the risk of possible side effects.
