Oxyprogesterone, 12.5% 1 ml 10 pcs

Oxyprogesterone is an analog of the corpus luteum hormone (progesterone). It differs chemically from progesterone in that it contains a capronic acid residue at position 17. Being an ester of hydroxyprogesterone, it is metabolized slower than progesterone (has a longer-lasting effect).

After a single injection of an oil solution in m/m its effect lasts from 7 to 14 days. By its biological properties it is similar to progesterone. It binds with receptors on the surface of target organs and penetrates into the nucleus, where it stimulates RNA synthesis by activating DNA.

It promotes the transition of the mucous membrane of the uterus from the phase of proliferation caused by follicular hormone to the secretory phase and after fertilization it creates the necessary conditions for implantation and development of the fertilized egg.

Limits the excitability and contractility of the uterine muscles and fallopian tubes and stimulates the development of mammary gland terminal elements.

How to take, the dosage

Intramuscularly.

In order to prevent and treat threatened and started miscarriage, administer 0.125-0.25 g (1-2 ml of 12.5% solution) once a week. It is used only in the first half of pregnancy.

In case of amenorrhea (primary, secondary) it is prescribed immediately after discontinuation of estrogenic drugs on 0.25 g, once or in 2 injections.

In the treatment of dysfunctional uterine bleeding the drug is less convenient than progesterone because its effect is slow in coming, but it can be used to normalize the cycle: 0.0625-0.125 g (0.5-1 ml of 12.5% solution) on days 20-22 of the cycle.

Contraindications

With caution. Cardiovascular diseases, arterial hypertension, CVD, diabetes, bronchial asthma, epilepsy, migraine, depression; hyperlipoproteinemia, ectopic pregnancy, lactation.

Side effects

Nervous system disorders: drowsiness, headache, depression, apathy, dysphoria.

Digestive system disorders: cholestatic hepatitis, nausea, vomiting, decreased appetite, calculous cholecystitis.

Urinary system disorders: decreased libido, decreased menstrual cycle, intermediate bleeding.

Senses: visual impairment.

Cardiovascular system: increase in blood pressure, edema, thromboembolism (including pulmonary artery and cerebral vessels), thrombophlebitis, retinal vein thrombosis.

Endocrine system disorders: galactorrhea, alopecia, weight gain, enlargement, pain and tension of the mammary glands; hirsutism. Allergic reactions.

Local reactions: soreness at the injection site.
