Ostenil restores the viscoelastic properties of synovial fluid.

The synovial fluid (SF) plays a critical role in joint homeostasis. In addition to supplying nutrition to the cartilage tissue (the latter has no blood vessels), it provides mechanical protection due to its unique viscoelastic properties. Hyaluronic acid, the main stromal component, gives SG these characteristics.

Highly purified hyaluronic acid obtained by bacterial fermentation is hypoallergenic. Rationally selected molecular weight promotes both the restoration of the viscoelastic properties of synovial fluid and the production of endogenous hyaluronic acid. Mannitol is an antioxidant which promotes preservation of the therapeutic effect after a single injection of the Ostenil® Plus medical device for six months and more.

Indications

Degenerative-dystrophic and traumatic changes in the hip, knee and other synovial joints, accompanied by pain and limited mobility.

How to take, the dosage

Intra-articular. It is approved for use only by a physician.

Injected into the cavity of the affected joint once. Under indications, treatment can be supplemented by 1-2 injections at 14-day intervals. At the same time, injections can also be made into other joints.

If there is an effusion in the joint, it should first be evacuated, the joint should be rested and cold therapy or intraarticular injection of a corticosteroid drug should be used. Treatment with the Ostenil medical device could be started after 2-3 days after these procedures.

The contents and outer surface of the filled syringe with the Ostenil medical product are sterile as long as the packaging and the capping system of the syringe are intact. The capping system consists of a protective cap, a luer tip and a tamper-evident cap.

The product must not be used if the sterile packaging or the syringe is damaged or if the expiration date (indicated on the box) has expired.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to one of the ingredients.

Side effects

Local secondary phenomena such as pain, warmth, redness and swelling may occur after intra-articular injection of the product.

The application of ice on the punctured joint for 5-10 minutes can stop these phenomena.

Pregnancy use

It is not recommended for use in children, pregnant and lactating women.
