Sertaconazole is an antifungal agent derived from imidazole. It has fungistatic and fungicidal action. The mechanism of action of sertaconazole is inhibition of ergosterol synthesis and increased permeability of the cell membrane of the fungus, which leads to lysis of the fungus cell.

It is active against dermatophytes (Trychophyton, Microsporum, Epidermophyton), yeasts of the genus Candida and Malassezia (formerly Pityrosporum). It has antimicrobial action against Gram-positive (staphylococci, streptococci) bacteria.

Pharmacokinetics

Sertaconazole is poorly absorbed through the skin and has almost no systemic action.

Candidiasis,

Dermatomycosis,

Dermatophytosis (feet, shins, body, beard, hands),

The solution for external use is 2%.

How to take, the dosage

Externally.

In adults and children over 12 years of age, the solution is applied evenly to the affected areas of the skin 2 times a day, covering about 1 cm of the healthy skin surface. The duration of treatment depends on the etiology of the disease and localization of the infection, on average 4 weeks.

When treating pityriasis, apply a sufficient amount of the solution to dry skin from the neck downward, excluding the genitals. Repeat twice daily for 4 weeks.

If no improvement or new symptoms appear after treatment, consult a physician.

Interaction

Special Instructions

Do not use in ophthalmic practice. After application of the drug it is not recommended to use acidic detergents (in an acidic environment increases the reproduction of yeasts of the genus Candida). There are no data on the use in children.

In case of accidental contact of the drug in the eyes, rinse them with plenty of water. If clinical signs of infection persist after treatment, repeat microbiological testing to confirm the diagnosis.

If side effects occur, discontinue use and seek medical attention.

Skin and subcutaneous tissue disorders:

Rarely: contact dermatitis, allergic reactions, erythema.
