Nonoxinol, vaginal suppositories 120 mg 10 pcs

Nopoxypol is a non-ionic surfactant compound, its spermicidal effect is due to fragmentation and reduction of sperm motility.

It has bactericidal activity against gonococci and chlamydia. In vitro it shows activity against HIV infections, but there is no clinical evidence of a reduction in the risk of HIV infection when using ponoxinol. Lactic acid has beneficial effects on normal microflora and vaginal mucosa.

When the suppository is used, the concentration of ponoxinol in the vagina averages 1-1.7%, which is sufficient to exhibit spermicidal activity.

The spermicidal activity of the suppository comes after dissolving, about 10 minutes after insertion into the vagina, and lasts for no more than 2 hours.

There is no foam when using the drug.

Rarely – dermatitis, itching, burning of the woman’s vagina or partner’s penis.

Interaction

Due to a possible decrease in spermicidal activity, the drug Nonoxynol is not recommended for use with other drugs intended for intravaginal administration.
