Indications

How to take, the dosage

Orally, chewed, as a prophylactic agent: 1-2 tablets daily for adults; for course prevention of osteoporosis: 1 tablet 2 times a day, morning and evening (preferably with food), for the treatment of osteoporosis: the dosage and duration of course are determined by the doctor.

Interaction

The effect is weakened by phenytoin and barbiturates, strengthened by cardiac glycosides. Calcium and vitamin D3 increase absorption of tetracyclines (requires 3-hour interval between doses), decrease – bisphosphonates and fluorides (requires 2-hour interval between doses).

Corticosteroids decrease calcium absorption, furosemide and other loop diuretics increase renal calcium excretion.

Cholestyramine and mineral or vegetable oil-based laxatives decrease vitamin D3 absorption. Acidic foods increase calcium absorption; mildly alkaline foods decrease it.

Special Instructions

Should not be used simultaneously with vitamin-mineral complexes containing calcium and vitamin D3. Possible additional vitamin D3 intake from other sources should be considered.

Contraindications

Side effects

Dyspeptic phenomena (constipation, diarrhea, flatulence, nausea, abdominal pain); increase in calcium content in blood and urine (with long-term use).
