Characteristics of the components of the MIRACSANT complex:

Poppy of Peru. Another name of this plant is Lepidium meyenii. The main active components of the extract of Peruvian Maca are unique active substances: macaridins, macamides and glucosinolates. Peruvian Maca extract showed the ability to increase production of follicle-stimulating hormone in pituitary gland, which allows to activate work of so-called Sertoli cells in testicles. Sertoli cells are actively involved in spermatogenesis and perform a number of important functions that ensure the normal development of spermatogenic cells: trophic (nutritive), protective, transport. It has also been proven that the use of Peruvian Maca improves the motility of mature spermatozoa and increases their concentration in the ejaculate.

L-carnitine. It is an amino acid-like substance which performs a number of important functions in the body. L-carnitine accumulates in the epithelium of the testicular appendage, seminal plasma and spermatozoa. It is a carrier molecule in the transport of essential substances (long-chain fatty acids) through the inner mitochondrial membrane of spermatozoa. L-carnitine provides energy balance in sperm and affects the final process of sperm maturation, improving their mobility. L-carnitine is able to reduce free radical levels in the seminal plasma, ensuring the integrity of DNA in the core of sperm cells, protecting them from oxidative stress. L-carnitine has the ability to improve sperm motility and viability even after the process of cryopreservation (“freezing”).

The single celled green algae Haematococcus pluvialis. This green algae extract is a source of the unique active ingredient Astaxanthin.

Astaxanthin is a natural substance of the carotenoid group and has a number of beneficial effects. Today, Astaxanthin is the most powerful natural antioxidant known to man. The protective antioxidant effect of Astaxanthin is expressed through its ability to inhibit cellular oxidation and prevent the destruction of important organic compounds. Astaxanthin’s antioxidant effect is 75 times stronger than that of alpha-lipoic acid, about 550 times stronger than that of green tea catechins, 800 times stronger than that of coenzyme Q10, and about 6,000 times stronger than that of vitamin C. Astaxanthin’s distinctive feature is its unique structure that allows it to act simultaneously in the intra- and extracellular space and to neutralize free radicals most effectively. This helps prevent DNA damage and disruption of sperm cell membrane integrity. In addition, Astaxanthin facilitates the acrosomal reaction of spermatozoa, i.e. helps them to overcome the barrier of the egg membrane for successful penetration inside the egg.

Zinc citrate. Zinc citrate is a unique organic compound and a source of zinc, one of the most important trace elements in the human body. Zinc plays a key role in sperm development. The normal level of zinc in seminal plasma is 100 times higher than in blood plasma. Zinc deficiency is associated with decreased testosterone levels. Men suffering from infertility and hypogonadism (insufficient testicular function) have shown an increase in testosterone levels when zinc was added to their diet. Zinc deficiency and malnutrition cause destruction (apoptosis) of Leyding cells in the testes; it increases oxidation of protein in the testes while disrupting regulation of many enzymes, ultimately leading to degeneration of testicular structure, decreased testosterone secretion in the testes and decreased male fertility. Therefore, the daily intake of zinc in the body should be mandatory in sufficient quantities.
