Myo-inositol (inositol, inositol, Vitamin B8) is a water-soluble B vitamin-like compound. Its main function is participation in intracellular signal transmission and functioning of insulin receptors, reproductive hormones, growth factors.
Myo-inositol participates in supporting the cardiovascular system, central nervous system, immunity (decrease of autoimmune inflammatory reactions), metabolism of sugars (especially in the insulin signaling cascade).
Myo-inositol is involved in the regulation of fat metabolism, helps reduce blood cholesterol levels. Reduction of weight and improvement of lipid profile occurs due to decrease of insulin resistance and increase of adiponectin hormone production in adipose tissue which in its turn has anti-inflammatory and anti-atherogenic effects.
Myo-inositol improves the transmission of nerve signals. It is used effectively in the treatment of diabetic neuropathy and other diseases with impaired nerve sensitivity. Myo-inositol improves concentration and memory ability.
Myo-inositol is necessary for sperm reproduction, it also has a central role in triggering egg division. So myo-inositol deficiency can lead to infertility in both sexes.
The effects of myo-inositol contributing to the normalization of pathophysiological mechanisms associated with reproductive disorders provide an opportunity for its wide application in obstetric and gynecological practice and in the combined therapy of infertility. The direct participation of myo-inositol in the restoration of regularity of the menstrual cycle and ovulation determines its successful use in patients with anovulatory cycle.
Folic acid (FA) is a water-soluble B vitamin (vitamin B9) and refers to folate: a group of related compounds with folic acid activity. FA has much greater bioavailability than natural folate and is rapidly absorbed in the small intestine. FA plays an important role in amino acid metabolism, protein and nucleic acid synthesis (primarily in DNA and RNA production) and chromosome repair, so it is very important for normal cell division and tissue growth.
Numerous studies have convincingly demonstrated the exceptional role of FC in the functioning of the reproductive system. Most researchers have concluded that serum FA deficiency leads to impaired follicular development and oocyte immaturity, to impaired ovarian reserve and prevents pregnancy in patients, including those with PCOS.
The intake of FC is extremely important because it prevents birth defects, including defects in the formation of the neural tube (the future nervous system of the child).
Since not all women at such an early age are aware of the changes in their bodies in connection with pregnancy, it is worth heeding the recommendations of the obstetrician-gynecologist and starting to take folic acid while planning pregnancy.
To prevent malformations of the neural tube and other defects and complications in pregnancy, all women, without exception, preparing for conception should take folate in doses of 400-800 mcg/day during the 3 months before conception and at least during the first trimester of pregnancy. Non-prescription of folate prescribed in the orders of medical care and clinical guidelines is considered to be a defect in the provision of medical care.
It is not a medicine.
Indications
– As an adjunctive drug to restore ovarian function, ovulation cycle, for the onset of desired pregnancy, including in polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS).
– As an adjunctive drug for the prevention of neural tube defects, other fetal malformations and complicated course of pregnancy during 3 months of the pre-conception period (before conception) and the first trimester of pregnancy.
– In preparation protocols for in vitro fertilization (IVF) to achieve ovulation and improve the quality of mature oocytes.
– To decrease the synthesis of testosterone in women and to eliminate androgenic disorders (hirsutism, acne).
– In the combined therapy of metabolic syndrome (together with correction of diet and physical activity).
– As an additional source of myo-inositol and folic acid for patients of both sexes.
