Interaction
Concomitant use of moxonidine with other hypotensive agents leads to additive effects.
Directions for use
Moxonitex is administered orally, regardless of meals, with plenty of fluids. Dosing regimen is chosen individually. The initial dose is 200 mcg in the morning.
Special Instructions
Regular monitoring of BP, HR and ECG is required during treatment. If simultaneously taken beta-adrenoblockers and Moxonitex have to be cancelled, the beta-adrenoblockers should be cancelled first and Moxonitex only after a few days.
Contraindications
– hereditary lactose intolerance, lactase deficiency or glucose-galactose malabsorption;
Side effects
According to the WHO, side effects are classified according to their frequency of occurrence as follows: frequently (>1/100, < 1/10), infrequently (>1/1000, < 1/100), rarely (>1/10 000, < 1/1000) and very rarely (< 1/10 000), including individual reports.
Overdose
Symptoms: headache, marked BP decrease, bradycardia, palpitations, weakness, drowsiness, dry mouth; rarely – vomiting and epigastric pain. Paradoxical arterial hypertension and hyperglycemia are possible.
Pregnancy use
There have been no reliable studies on the use of moxonidine in pregnant women.
