Miramistin has a broad spectrum of antimicrobial action, including hospital strains resistant to antibiotics.

The drug has a pronounced bactericidal action against Gram-positive (Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp, Streptococcus pneumoniae, etc.), gram-negative (Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella spp. and others), aerobic and anaerobic bacteria determined in the form of monocultures and microbial associations, including hospital strains with multiresistance to antibiotics.

It has antifungal effect on ascomycetes of the genus Aspergillus and the genus Penicillium, yeasts (Rhodotorula rubra, Torulopsis gabrata, etc.etc.) and yeast-like fungi (Candida albicans, Candida tropicalis, Candida krusei, Pityrosporum orbiculare, Malassezia furfur, etc.), dermatophytes (Trichophyton rubrum, Trichophyton mentagrophytes, Trichophyton verrucosum, Trichophyton schoenleini, Trichophyton violacent, Epidermophyton Kaufman-Wolf, Epidermophyton floccosum, Microsporum gypseum, Microsporum canis, etc.), as well as other pathogenic fungi, in the form of monocultures and microbial associations, including fungal microflora with resistance to chemotherapeutic drugs.

It has antiviral action and is active against complex viruses (herpes viruses, human immunodeficiency virus and others).

Miramistine is effective against causers of sexually transmitted diseases (Chlamydia spp., Treponema spp., Trichomonas vaginalis, Neisseria gonorrhoeae and others).

Effectively prevents infection of wounds and burns. It stimulates regeneration processes. Stimulates protective reactions at the site of application due to activation of the absorptive and digestive function of phagocytes and potentiates the activity of the monocytic-macrophage system. It has a pronounced hyperosmolar activity, as a result of which it stops wound and perifocal inflammation, absorbs purulent exudate, contributing to the formation of a dry crust. It does not damage granulation and viable skin cells and does not suppress marginal epithelization.

It does not have a local irritant and allergic properties.

Indications

For use in surgery, traumatology:

– prevention of suppuration and treatment of purulent wounds;

– treatment of purulent inflammatory processes of the musculoskeletal system.

For use in obstetrics, gynecology:

– prevention and treatment of suppuration of postpartum trauma, perineal and vaginal wounds, postpartum infections;

– prevention and treatment of inflammatory diseases (vulvovaginitis, endometritis).

For use in combustiology:

– treatment of superficial and deep burns of II and III A degree;

– preparation of burn wounds for dermatoplasty.

For use in dermatology, venereology:

– treatment and prevention of pyoderma and dermatomycosis, candidiasis of skin and mucous membranes, foot mycosis;

– individual prevention of sexually transmitted diseases (including.

Composition

Composition per 1 liter:
Active ingredient: benzyl dimethyl [3-myristoylamino]propyl] ammonium chloride monohydrate (in terms of anhydrous substance) – 0.1 g

Excipient: purified water – up to 1 liter.

How to take, the dosage

Adults

When used in surgery, traumatology, combustiology for preventive and therapeutic purposes irrigate the surface of wounds and burns, loosely tamponize wounds and fistulous passages, fix gauze tampons soaked in the drug. The therapeutic procedure shall be repeated 2-3 times a day for 3-5 days. The method of active drainage of wounds and cavities with daily consumption of up to 1 liter of the drug is highly effective.

When used in obstetrics, gynecology with a view to prevent postpartum infectionIt is used in the form of vaginal irrigations before childbirth (5-7 days), in childbirth after each vaginal examination and in the postpartum period – 50 ml of the preparation in the form of a tampon with 2-hour exposure, for 5 days. At delivery of women by caesarean section the vagina is treated immediately before the operation, during the operation – the uterine cavity and incision, and in the postoperative period the tampons moistened with the drug are inserted into the vagina with exposure for 2 hours for 7 days. Treatment of inflammatory diseases is carried out as a course of 2 weeks by intravaginal administration of tampons with the drug, as well as by the method of drug electrophoresis.

For prevention of venereal diseases the drug is effective if it is used not later than 2 hours after sexual intercourse. The contents of the vial should be introduced into the urethra for 2-3 min with the help of urological applicator: for men (2-3 ml), for women (1-2 ml) and in the vagina (5-10 ml). Treat the skin on the inner surfaces of the thighs, pubis, genitals. After the procedure, it is recommended not to urinate for 2 hours.

In complex treatment of urethritis and urethroprostatitis the drug is injected into the urethra 2-3 ml 1-2 times a day, the course of treatment is 10 days.

In purulent maxillary sinuses – during puncture the maxillary sinus is flushed with a sufficient amount of the drug. Tonsillitis, pharyngitis and laryngitis are treated by rinsing the pharynx and/or irrigation with a spray nozzle 3-4 times a day. The amount of the drug per rinse is 10-15 ml.

In case of stomatitis, gingivitis, periodontitis it is recommended to rinse the oral cavity 10-15 ml of the drug 3-4 times a day.

The drug is ready to use.

To use the spray nozzle package

1. Remove the cap from the bottle.

2. Remove the included spray head from its protective package.

3. Attach the spray tip to the bottle.

4. Activate the spray tip by pressing again.

To use a 50 ml or 100 ml package with a gynecological nozzle:

1. Remove the cap from the bottle.

2. Remove the included gynecological nozzle from the protective package.

3. Attach the gynecologic nozzle to the vial without removing the urologic applicator.
