Contraindications

Hypersensitivity, tumor resistance, suppression of bone marrow function (leukopenia with a leukocyte count less than 3 109/l, thrombocytopenia with a platelet count less than 100 109/l), chicken pox, herpes zoster and other infections, impaired liver and kidney function, a history of gout or kidney stones.

Side Effects

From the nervous system and sensory organs: headache, weakness.

From the cardiovascular system and blood: most often – anemia, leukopenia, thrombocytopenia (during the period of active therapy for acute myelogenous leukemia, patients often experience a period of relative bone marrow aplasia, and it is important to carry out appropriate supportive treatment).

From the gastrointestinal tract: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite, hepatotoxic effect (has a toxic-allergic origin and often occurs when the dose exceeds 2.5 mg/kg/day) or cholestasis (yellowness of the sclera or skin); rarely – stomatitis (usually at high doses), ulcerations in the gastrointestinal tract, hepatic encephalopathy.

From the genitourinary system: less often – hyperuricemia or nephropathy.

From the skin: skin hyperpigmentation, skin rash, itching.

Other: decreased immunity and susceptibility to infections.
