Meldonium-escom, 100mg/ml 5 ml 10 pcs

Metabolism-improving agent, analog of gamma-butyrobetaine. Inhibits gamma-butyrobetaine hydroxinase, inhibits carnitine synthesis and transport of long-chain fatty acids through cell membranes, prevents accumulation of activated forms of non-oxidized fatty acids in cells – derivatives of acylcarnitine and acylkoenzyme A.

In conditions of ischemia it restores the balance of oxygen delivery and consumption in cells, prevents the disruption of ATP transport; at the same time it activates glycolysis, which proceeds without additional oxygen consumption. As a result of decrease of carnitine concentration, gamma-butyrobetaine, which has vasodilatory properties, is synthesized intensively. The mechanism of action determines the diversity of its pharmacological effects: increase of work capacity, reduction of symptoms of mental and physical overexertion, activation of tissue and humoral immunity, cardioprotective effect.

In case of acute myocardial ischemic injury it slows down the formation of the necrotic zone and shortens the rehabilitation period. In heart failure increases myocardial contractility, increases exercise tolerance, reduces the frequency of angina attacks. In acute and chronic ischemic cerebral circulatory disorders improves blood circulation in the focus of ischemia, promotes blood redistribution to the ischemic area. It is effective for vascular and dystrophic ocular fundus pathology. It has tonic effect on the CNS, eliminates functional disorders of the nervous system in patients with chronic alcoholism in withdrawal syndrome.

Indications

Disabled performance; physical overexertion, including in athletes; postoperative period to accelerate rehabilitation.

In the treatment of CHD (angina, myocardial infarction), chronic heart failure, cardialgia against myocardial dystrophy, acute and chronic cerebrovascular disorders (stroke, cerebrovascular failure).

Anxiety withdrawal syndrome in chronic alcoholism (in combination with specific therapy). In ophthalmology – hemophthalmia and retinal hemorrhages of various etiology, central retinal vein thrombosis and its branches, retinopathies of various etiology (diabetic, hypertensive) – only for parabulbaric administration.

Composition

The active ingredient is meldonium.

How to take, the dosage

In connection with the possibility of development of excitatory effect it is recommended to use in the morning. The dose is set individually depending on the indication and route of administration.

In oral administration a single dose is 0.25-1 g; the frequency of administration and duration of treatment depend on the indication.

Intravenous doses are 0.5-1 g once a day, the duration of therapy depends on the indication.

Parabulbar solution is injected 0.5 ml of 500 mg/5 ml solution for 10 days.

Interaction

When used together, meldonium increases the effect of antianginal drugs, some hypotensive drugs, and cardiac glycosides.

In concomitant use of meldonium with nitroglycerin, nifedipine, alpha-adrenoblockers, antihypertensive agents and peripheral vasodilators, moderate tachycardia and hypotension may occur (caution is required with these combinations).

Special Instructions

With caution, use in patients with liver and/or kidney disease, especially for prolonged periods of time.

Long-term experience in the treatment of acute myocardial infarction and unstable angina in cardiology departments shows that meldonium is not a first-line treatment for acute coronary syndrome.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity, increased intracranial pressure (with venous outflow disorders, intracranial tumors).

Side effects

Dyspepsia, agitation, tachycardia, arterial hypotension, skin itching.

Similarities
