Medifox gel, 50 g

Pharmgroup: ectoparasitic killing agent.

Pharmacological action: Antiparasitic agent, has antipediculosis, insecticidal action. It disrupts permeability of Na+-channels of insects’ nerve cells membranes, inhibits the process of polarization (repolarization) of the nerve cell, which leads to paralyzing effect.

Effective against nits, larvae and mature individuals of head and head lice, fleas, mites (including scabies) and other ectoparasites of the arthropod family.

With single treatment of the surfaces infected with pediculosis the action lasts from 2-3 to 6 weeks (depending on the dosage form used). It is effective after a single treatment.

It is mildly toxic for humans and upon application to the skin in the recommended doses and concentrations it does not have any skin-resorptive, locally irritating and sensitizing effect.

Pharmacokinetics: After cutaneous application absorption is about 2%.
A portion of the drug entering the systemic bloodstream is quickly hydrolyzed by esterases to inactive metabolites.
Excreted by the kidneys (as metabolites).

Indications

Scabies, head and pubic pediculosis.

Composition

1% permethrin, gelling agent, functional additives.

How to take, the dosage

The gel is applied evenly to clean, damp scalp or hairy body parts (in the case of pubic pediculosis), rubbing into the hair roots.

For 40 minutes afterwards, rinse the treated body parts with warm water and soap or shampoo, comb through the scalp with a fine-tooth comb to remove dead insects and eggs.

The rate of gel consumption is from 10 to 50 g per person depending on the degree of infestation, length and density of hair. In case of repeated infestation, the treatment should be repeated, but no more than 2 times a month.

Special Instructions

Avoid contact of the gel with the mucous membranes of the eyes, nasal passages and mouth, as well as the mucous membranes of the genitals. If the drug comes into contact with the mucous membranes, rinse them with running water.

Contraindications

Individual intolerance, children under 5 years of age.

With caution: pregnancy, lactation period. During the treatment of scabies it is necessary to give up breastfeeding.

Side effects

In some cases, there may be a burning sensation where the product was applied, which clears on its own after a few minutes.
