The mask is a disposable product that covers the wearer’s mouth and nose and provides a barrier to direct transmission of infectious particles from the mask wearer to others.

The mask consists of a filter layer that sits between two outer layers (three-layer masks) and a flexible aluminum insert that allows the mask to fit the shape of the nose. The mask is secured to the face with elastic ear loops.

The mask can be worn for anywhere from 2-6 hours, depending on environmental conditions.

In times of epidemics or in healthcare settings, a maximum of two hours is recommended. If the mask is being used to protect against man-made factors, such as smog, the wear time can be up to 6 hours.
