Pharmacological properties

A combined drug with antipyretic, vasoconstrictor, analgesic and anti-allergic effect.

Paracetamol has antipyretic and analgesic effect: reduces pain syndrome during colds – sore throat, headache, muscle and joint pain, reduces fever.

Pheniramine has antiallergic effect: it eliminates edema and hyperemia of mucous membranes of the nasal cavity, nasopharynx and sinuses, reduces runny nose and lacrimation. Phenylephrine has a vasoconstrictor effect: it reduces nasopharyngeal mucosa edema.

Ascorbic acid (vitamin C) replenishes the increased need for vitamin C during “colds” and flu, especially in the initial stages of the disease, increases resistance to infectious diseases.

The combined effect of pheniramine and phenylephrine reduces nasal congestion and significantly eases nasal breathing.

How to take, the dosage

Dissolve the contents of one sachet in 1 cup of boiled hot water. Use while hot. Sugar may be added to taste.

Repeat dose may be taken every 4 hours (maximum of 3 doses in 24 hours).

Maxicold Rhino for flu and colds can be used at any time of the day, but the best effect is achieved by taking the drug before going to bed, at night.

If there is no relief of symptoms within 3 days after starting to take the drug, it is necessary to see a doctor.

Interaction

It is recommended to refrain from taking the drug while taking monoamine oxidase inhibitors. The risk of hepatotoxic effects of paracetamol increases with concomitant administration of barbiturates, diphenine, carbamazepine, rifampicin, zidovudine and other inducers of microsomal liver enzymes.

Antidepressants, antiparkinsonian and antipsychotic drugs, phenothiazine derivatives increase the risk of urinary retention, dry mouth, constipation.

Limits the hypotensive effect of guanethidine, which in turn increases the alpha-adrenergic stimulating activity of phenylephrine.

Special Instructions

To avoid toxic liver damage, paracetamol should not be combined with the intake of alcoholic beverages, and persons prone to chronic alcohol consumption should not take it.

The risk of liver damage increases in patients with alcoholic hepatosis.

If patients who have diabetes or are on a low-sugar diet take note that each packet contains 13599.17 mg of sugar, which equals 1 IU.

Do not use the product from damaged packets.

Allergic reactions, drowsiness, nausea, epigastric pain, dry mouth, accommodation paresis, hyperexcitability, dizziness, increased blood pressure, trouble falling asleep, urinary retention, rare: anemia.

Overdose

Symptoms from the drug: hepatotoxic and nephrotoxic effects nausea, vomiting, pain in the epigastric region; in severe cases liver failure, encephalopathy and coma develop.

Treatment: you should perform gastric lavage, take activated charcoal and see a doctor.

Pregnancy use

The use of the drug during pregnancy is contraindicated.

If it is necessary to use the drug while breastfeeding, breastfeeding should be stopped.
