Lipoic acid is a coenzyme that participates in oxidative decarboxylation of pyruvic acid and alpha-keto acids and plays an important role in the energy balance of the body.
In the nature of the biochemical action of lipoic acid is similar to the B vitamins.
Lipoic acid is involved in the regulation of lipid and carbohydrate metabolism, has a lipotropic effect, affects cholesterol metabolism, improves liver function and has a detoxifying effect when poisoned with salts of heavy metals and other intoxications.

How to take, the dosage
Ingestion after meals. Adults – 0.05 g (2 tablets of 0.025 g) 3-4 times a day.
Children over 6 years of age – 0.012-0.024 g (1-2 tablets of 0.012 g) 2-3 times a day.
The course of treatment is 20-30 days.
If necessary the treatment course is repeated in 1 month upon prescription.
Interaction
Potentiates the anti-inflammatory effect of glucocorticoids.
Decreases the effectiveness of cisplatin. Increases the effect of insulin and oral hypoglycemic agents.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the drug.
Side effects
Dyspeptic phenomena, allergic reactions, hypoglycemia are possible.
