Pharmacological properties

Pharmacodynamics: Limontar® is a regulator of tissue metabolism, increases redox processes, formation of adenosine triphosphate (ATP), which causes its antihypoxic and antioxidant properties due to which the drug has the ability:

– to activate the functions of organs and tissues;

– to increase the reactivity of the body;

– to improve the course of pregnancy, fetal growth and development;

– increase mental and physical performance;

– increase secretion of gastric juice, formation of hydrochloric acid, increase appetite;

– reduce toxic effects of alcohol.

The action of the drug Limontar® is seen 10-20 minutes after oral administration.

Pharmacokinetics: succinic and citric acids are completely broken down to water and carbon dioxide; there is no accumulation in the body.

Indications

As a “test breakfast” when studying the secretory and acid-forming functions of the stomach (the diagnostic value of the medicinal product Limontar® and histamine is equal).

In prophylaxis of alcohol intoxication; in treatment of acute alcohol intoxication of mild and moderate degree of severity to decrease toxic effects of alcohol and postintoxication disorders; in combination therapy to treat withdrawal states in patients with chronic alcoholism.

In period of alcohol withdrawal syndrome, for the complex treatment of asthenovegetative disorders (general weakness, decreased working capacity, appetite).

Composition

Active ingredients:

succinic acid – 200 mg,

citric acid monohydrate – 50 mg;

Excipients:

Magnesium stearate – 3 mg.

How to take, the dosage

It is used orally before meals. Before taking the tablet is crushed and dissolved in drinking water with baking soda (soda on the tip of a knife) or in mineral water.

Pregnant women during the first trimester of pregnancy (within 12-14 weeks), during the second trimester (within 24-26 weeks of pregnancy) and in the third trimester (10-25 days before delivery) 1 tablet daily during 10 days. The total dose of the preparation Limontar® during the period of pregnancy is 5-7,5 g.

When administered as a “test breakfast” to study the secretory and acid-forming functions of the stomach, 1 tablet is taken orally, on an empty stomach, previously dissolved in 10-15 ml of water.

As a remedy for preventing alcohol intoxication – 1 tablet of the preparation Limontar® 20-60 minutes before taking alcohol.

In case of acute alcohol intoxication 1 tablet 2-4 times a day with an interval of 1-2.5 hours.

In case of relieving intoxication Limontar® is prescribed 1 tablet 3-4 times a day for 4-10 days both alone and with standard therapy.

In case of feeling of heaviness in the epigastric region, Limontar® is prescribed after meals.

The tablet should be dissolved before use.

Impact on the ability to drive vehicles, mechanisms: The use of the drug does not affect the ability to perform potentially dangerous activities requiring increased concentration and speed of psychomotor reactions (driving vehicles, working with moving mechanisms, work of a dispatcher, operator).

Pregnancy use

The use of the drug during pregnancy is possible in the first trimester (at 12-14 weeks of pregnancy), second trimester (at 24-26 weeks of pregnancy) and third trimester (10-25 days before delivery), upon recommendation of the obstetrician-gynecologist (see sections “Indications for use” and “Dosage and administration”).

The use of the drug during breast-feeding is not recommended (due to the lack of results of studies on the effectiveness and safety of the drug during this period).
