Levomethyl, ointment 40 g

Combination drug for external use, has anti-inflammatory (dehydrating) and antimicrobial action. Chloramphenicol disrupts the process of protein synthesis in the microbial cell and belongs to the antibiotics with bacteriostatic action.

It is active against Gram-positive and Gram-negative microorganisms (staphylococci, Pseudomonas and Escherichia coli, etc.). Easily penetrates deep into tissues without damaging biological membranes. In the presence of pus and necrotic masses the antibacterial effect is maintained.

Dioxomethyltetrahydropyrimidine,normalizing nucleic exchange, stimulates regeneration processes in wounds, tissue growth and granulation maturation, epithelization, has anti-inflammatory (dehydrating) effect.

Pharmacokinetics

The drug is slightly absorbed and has no systemic action.

Indications

Purulent wounds (including those infected with mixed microflora) in the first (purulent-necrotic) phase of the wound process.

The drug does not affect the ability to engage in potentially hazardous activities that require special attention and quick reactions (driving a car and other vehicles, working with moving mechanisms, working as a dispatcher and operator, etc.).

Pregnancy

The drug can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding if the potential benefit to the mother outweighs the risk to the fetus and child.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, children under 1 year of age (in newborns, the biotransformation of chloramphenicol occurs more slowly than in adults).

Side Effects

Allergic reactions (skin rashes). In this case, you should stop using the drug and consult a doctor. If any of the side effects indicated in the instructions get worse, or you notice any other side effects not listed in the instructions, tell your doctor.

Interaction

When used simultaneously with external dosage forms of erythromycin, clindamycin, lincomycin and gentamicin, the effect is mutually weakened.

Overdose

Unlikely due to low absorption. When applying the ointment to large surfaces and long-term treatment, symptoms from the hematopoietic system may appear – anemia, leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, reticulocytopenia, which usually disappear after stopping the drug and prescribing symptomatic therapy.

Storage conditions

At a temperature not higher than 25 o C (for a medicinal product packaged in aluminum tubes). In a place protected from light at a temperature of 12 to 15 o C
(for medicinal products packaged in polypropylene or high-density polyethylene cans). Keep out of the reach of children.

Shelf life

3 years 6 months. Do not use after expiration date.
