Lavasept, 20% concentrate 5 ml

Lavacept – antiseptic.

It has broad spectrum antibacterial action and antifungal (fungicidal) action.

It is active against Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Streptococcus pneumoniae etc.

In the presence of blood and purulent secretions, the bactericidal and fungicidal effect is weakened slightly.

Composition

Active ingredients:

Polyhexanide hydrochloride 200 mg;

Macrogol 4000 (PEG) 10 mg;

Water for injection.

How to take, the dosage

Topically.

The concentrate should be pre-diluted to 0.1 or 0.2% concentration by adding 1.0 or 2.0 ml of Lavasept concentrated solution to 1000 ml of Ringer’s solution without lactate or 0.9% sodium chloride solution respectively.

For irrigation and active wound drainage 0.1% solution is used; if wounds are infected with Gram-negative flora – 0.2% solution.

Special Instructions

Mixing with other solutions should avoid turbidity and precipitation.

Polyhexanide that precipitates at low temperatures can be dissolved by heating the solution to 60 °C.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, brain, eye, middle and inner ear surgery, intraperitoneal lavage, childhood, pregnancy, lactation.

Side effects

A hypersensitivity reaction to the ingredients of the drug (urticaria, skin rash) may occur.

Pregnancy use

It is contraindicated in pregnancy.

Breastfeeding should be stopped during treatment.
