Ketoprofen cream 5% is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug, the main properties of which are analgesic, anti-inflammatory and anti-edema effects.
Ketoprofen has no negative effect on the articular cartilage.
Indications
Symptomatic therapy of painful and inflammatory processes of different origin, including:
– rheumatoid arthritis and periarthritis;
– ankylosing spondylitis (Bechterew’s disease), psoriatic arthritis, reactive arthritis (Reiter’s syndrome);
– osteoarthritis of various localization;
– tendinitis, bursitis, myalgia, neuralgia, radiculitis;
– injuries of locomotor system (including sports), contusion of muscles and ligaments, sprains, torn ligaments and tendons of muscles.
Active ingredient
Composition
1 g of gel for external use contains:

ketoprofen 25 mg;
excipients:
carbomer,
trolamine (triethanolamine),
96% ethanol,
Lavender oil (essential, lavender oil),
water.
How to take, the dosage
For external use.
A small amount of gel (3 – 5 cm) is applied in a thin layer to the skin of the inflamed or painful area of the body 1 – 2 times a day and rubbed in gently.
The occlusive dressing is not recommended.
The dosage must be adjusted according to the area affected: 5 cm of Ketonal Gel is 100 mg ketoprofen, 10 cm is 200 mg ketoprofen.
Ketonal Gel can be used in combination with other dosage forms of Ketonal (capsules, tablets, suppositories).
The total daily dose regardless of the dosage form should not exceed 200 mg.
Do not use without consulting a doctor for more than 14 days.
Special Instructions
Ketonal Gel should not be applied to damaged skin (eczema, soggy dermatitis, open or infected wounds).
Ketonal Gel should avoid contact with the mucous membranes, eyes and skin around the eyes.
In case of skin irritation, therapy should be temporarily discontinued.
If there is significant irritation, it is not recommended to continue therapy.
At the time of therapy and for 2 weeks after discontinuation, direct sunlight and ultraviolet irradiation should be avoided.
Contraindications
– hypersensitivity to ketoprofen or other components of the drug, as well as salicylates or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs;
– indication in the history of bronchial asthma attacks after the use of NSAIDs and salicylates;
– III trimester of pregnancy;
– childhood (under 12 years);
– violation of skin integrity (eczema, watery dermatitis, open or infected wound).
Pregnancy use
Ketonal Gel is contraindicated in the third trimester of pregnancy.
Ketonal Gel may be used in the first and second trimesters of pregnancy after consultation with a physician, if the expected benefits to the mother outweigh the possible risk to the fetus.
The use of Ketonal Gel during breastfeeding is not recommended.
