Iodosept is an antiseptic drug.
It has a wide range of antimicrobial action.
It is active against bacteria including E. coli, Staphylococcus aureus, fungi, viruses, protozoa.
The concentration of active iodine is 0.1 – 1%.
In contact with the skin and mucous membranes iodine is gradually and evenly released, having a bactericidal effect on microorganisms.
The place of application leaves a thin colored layer that persists until all the iodine has been released.
Indications
Treatment of acute and chronic infectious and inflammatory diseases of the vagina (trichomoniasis, fungal, viral, nonspecific and mixed infections); bacterial vaginitis.
The prevention of infectious-inflammatory complications before gynecological interventions (induced termination of pregnancy, installation and removal of the intrauterine device, cervical diathermy coagulation, hysterosalpingography and others).
Active ingredient
Composition
Active ingredient:
povidone iodine (iodovidone) – 200 mg.
Excipients:
Propylene glycol (1,2-propylene glycol),
Macrogol 1500 (polyethylene oxide 1500).
How to take, the dosage
The drug is used intravaginally.
Prelease the suppository from the contoured cell packing and insert it deep into the vagina while lying on the back.
In acute vaginitis – 1 suppository 2 times a day for 7 days, in subacute and chronic vaginitis – 1 suppository 1 time a day (in the evening before going to bed) for 14 days.
For the pre-operative prophylaxis of complications of infectious genesis in gynecology it is used 2 times a day (in the morning and in the evening before going to bed) for 1-7 days (irrespective of the phase of menstrual cycle).
Interaction
The drug should not be used in combination with other antiseptics containing mercury, oxidizing agents, alkalis and cationic surfactants.
The bactericidal effect of the drug may be reduced in the presence of blood.
Special Instructions
In cases of nonmaniphestral hyperthyroidism and other thyroid diseases (especially in elderly patients) the drug is used only under strict indications and under constant medical supervision.
Avoid contact with the eyes.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the ingredients of the drug, thyrotoxicosis, Duhring’s dermatitis herpetiformis, thyroid adenoma, renal failure, concomitant therapy with radioactive iodine, children under 18 years of age, 1st trimester of pregnancy.
With caution
Chronic renal failure, II and III trimesters of pregnancy, period of lactation.
Side effects
Allergic reactions (itching, hyperemia of the vaginal mucosa).
