Iodosept is an antiseptic drug.

It has a wide range of antimicrobial action.

It is active against bacteria including E. coli, Staphylococcus aureus, fungi, viruses, protozoa.

The concentration of active iodine is 0.1 – 1%.

In contact with the skin and mucous membranes iodine is gradually and evenly released, having a bactericidal effect on microorganisms.

The place of application leaves a thin colored layer that persists until all the iodine has been released.

Indications

Treatment of acute and chronic infectious and inflammatory diseases of the vagina (Trichomonas, fungal, viral, nonspecific and mixed infections); bacterial vaginitis.

Prevention of infectious and inflammatory complications before gynecological interventions (artificial termination of pregnancy, installation and removal of an intrauterine device, diathermocoagulation of the cervix, hysterosalpingography and others).

Special instructions

In the case of non-manifest hyperthyroidism and other diseases of the thyroid gland (especially in elderly patients), the drug is used only according to strict indications and under constant medical supervision.

Avoid contact with eyes.

Composition

Active ingredient:

povidone-iodine (iodovidone) – 200 mg.

Excipients:

propylene glycol (1,2-propylene glycol),

macrogol 1500 (polyethylene oxide 1500).

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, thyrotoxicosis, Dühring’s dermatitis herpetiformis, thyroid adenoma, renal failure, simultaneous therapy with radioactive iodine, children under 18 years of age, first trimester of pregnancy.

With caution

Chronic renal failure, II and III trimesters of pregnancy, lactation period.

Side Effects

Allergic reactions (itching, hyperemia of the vaginal mucosa).

Interaction

The drug should not be used in combination with other antiseptics containing mercury, oxidizing agents, alkalis and cationic surfactants.

In the presence of blood, the bactericidal effect of the drug may decrease.
