Skin infections, Lung inflammation (pneumonia), Urinary tract infections
Treatment of severe and moderate infectious and inflammatory diseases caused by susceptible strains of microorganisms (including for starter empirical antibacterial therapy prior to pathogen identification):
Infections of the abdominal organs;
Infections of the skin and subcutaneous tissue, including infections of the lower extremities in diabetes (“diabetic” foot);
Out-of-hospital pneumonia;
infections of the urinary system (including pyelonephritis).
acute infections of the pelvic organs (including postpartum endometritis, septic abortion and postoperative gynecological infections);
bacterial septicemia.
Active ingredient
Composition
The bottle contains 1.213 grams of ertapenem sodium, which is equivalent to 1 gram of ertapenem as free acid.
Inactive ingredients:
Sodium bicarbonate 203 mg,
Sodium hydroxide to pH 7.5.
The sodium content is approximately 137 mg (approximately 6 mEq).
How to take, the dosage
Intravenous or intramuscularly.
The average daily dose of Invanz for adults is 1 g, the frequency of administration is 1 time per day.
Invanz is administered by intravenous infusion or intravenous injection.
In case of intravenous infusion duration of infusion should be 30 minutes.
Intravenous infusion may be an alternative to intravenous infusion.The recommended dose is 500 mg/day.
Interaction
No dosing adjustment is required when prescribing ertapenem with drugs that block tubular secretion.
Ertapenem has no effect on the metabolism of xenobiotics mediated by the six major cytochrome P450 (CYP) isoforms – 1A2, 2C9, 2C19, 2D6, 2E1 and WA4 (see Interaction with other medicinal products).
Interaction with drugs due to inhibition of tubular secretion, impaired binding to P-glycoprotein or altered intensity of microsomal oxidation is unlikely.
No specific clinical studies on interactions with specific drugs other than probenecid have been conducted.
Special Instructions
Before starting treatment with Invanz, the patient should be carefully asked about previous hypersensitivity reactions to other allergens (especially to penicillins, cephalosporins and other beta-lactam antibiotics).
In case of an allergic reaction, Invanz should be stopped immediately.
Serious anaphylactic reactions require emergency therapy.
Prolonged use of Invanz, like other antibiotics, may lead to an overgrowth of insensitive microorganisms.
If superinfection develops, appropriate measures should be taken.
Contraindications
A determined hypersensitivity to the components of the drug or to other antibiotics of the same group; hypersensitivity to other beta-lactam antibiotics.
If lidocaine hydrochloride is used as a solvent, I.V. administration is contraindicated in patients with a known hypersensitivity to local amide anesthetic agents and in patients with severe arterial hypotension or impaired intracardiac conduction.
Side effects
CNS disorders: often – headache; rarely – dizziness, drowsiness, insomnia (0.2%), convulsions, confusion.
The digestive system: often – diarrhea, nausea, vomiting; rarely – candidiasis of the mucous membrane of the mouth, constipation, belching of acidic contents, pseudomembranous colitis (often manifested by diarrhea) caused by uncontrolled proliferation of Сlostridium difficile, dry mouth, dyspepsia, anorexia.
Cardiovascular system disorders: rarely – decreased BP.
Respiratory system: rarely – dyspnea. Dermatological reactions: rarely – erythema, itching.
As to the body in general: rarely – abdominal pain, perversion of taste, weakness/fatigue, candidiasis, swelling, fever, chest pain.
Local reactions: often – postinfusion phlebitis/thrombophlebitis.
Genital organs: vaginal itching.
Pregnancy use
There is no sufficient clinical experience with the use of Invanz in pregnancy.
The drug may only be prescribed if the anticipated benefit to the mother justifies the potential risk to the fetus.
Invanz is indicated with caution during lactation (breastfeeding) because ertapenem is excreted with the breast milk.
