Infagel, gel 5 g

Infagel is interferon. It is a highly purified recombinant protein with a molecular weight of 19,300 daltons. It is obtained from Escherichia coli clone by hybridization of bacterial plasmids with human leukocyte gene encoding interferon synthesis. In contrast to interferon alpha-2a it has an arginine at position 23.

It has immunomodulatory activity which is associated with activation of phagocytosis, stimulation of formation of antibodies and lymphokines.

It has antiproliferative effect on tumor cells.

Indications

– Treatment of herpetic lesions of the skin and mucous membranes: herpes simplex and shingles; recurrent herpes of the face, genitals, gingivitis, herpetic stomatitis;

Prevention of influenza and ARVI in adults who have had contact with influenza and ARVI patients.

Composition

1 g. gel contains:

Active substance:

human recombinant interferon alfa-2b 10 thousand. IU;

Auxiliary substances:

aluminum (as hydroxide) – 14 mg;

polyvinyl alcohol – 75 mg;

purified water to 1 g.

How to take, the dosage

In the treatment of herpetic lesions gel is applied to the affected areas of the skin and mucous membranes in a topical layer 2 times a day with an interval of 12 hours and dried for 10-15 minutes to form a protective film. Duration of treatment course is from 3 to 5 days until complete disappearance of disturbances of skin and mucous membranes.

For the prevention of flu and acute respiratory viral infections during the periods of high illness, the drug is applied to the mucous membrane of the nasal passages 2 times a day with an interval of 12 hours during the first and third week of the course, in the second week a break is taken.

Interaction

For the treatment of inflammatory and viral diseases the drug can be used in combination therapy with antibacterials, glucocorticoids, interferon inducers and antiviral drugs.

Special Instructions

Infagel gel should be avoided in the eyes.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity, pregnancy, lactation.

Side effects

The drug has no side effects.
