Pharmacodynamics

Antiseptic agent from the group of oxidants. Upon contact of hydrogen peroxide with damaged skin or mucous membranes active oxygen is released, mechanical cleaning and inactivation of organic substances (proteins, blood, pus) occurs.

Antiseptic action is not sterilizing, its use is only a temporary reduction of microorganisms.

Abundant foaming promotes thrombosis and stopping bleeding from small vessels.

Composition

How to take, the dosage

For external use a 3% solution is used, topically – to rinse mouth and throat, to apply to mucous membranes – 0.25% solution (3% solution is diluted with water in ratio of 1:11). Undiluted solution is not used for treatment of mucous membranes. Damaged areas of skin or mucous membranes shall be treated with a cotton or gauze swab soaked with the drug solution. Tampons should be held with tweezers. Jet irrigation of the wound surface is possible.

Interaction

It is unstable in an alkaline environment, in the presence of metal salts, complex radicals of some oxidants, as well as in light and heat.

Special Instructions

It is not recommended to use the drug under the occlusive dressings.
Avoid contact with the eyes!
Do not use for irrigation of cavities!
Wound treatment with hydrogen peroxide solution does not guarantee against tetanus and other wound infections.

Effect of the drug on the ability to drive vehicles, machinery

Has not been studied.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity.

With caution

Decompensated liver and kidney diseases, hyperthyroidism, dermatitis herpetiformis.

Side effects

Overdose

No cases of overdose have been reported.

Pregnancy use

The drug has no contraindications for use during pregnancy and lactation.
