Human leukocyte interferon is a mixture of different subtypes of natural interferon alpha from human leukocytes. It has antiviral, antiproliferative, immunomodulatory and antitumor effects.

The mechanism of antiviral action consists in creation of protective mechanisms in cells uninfected with virus: change of cell membranes properties preventing virus penetration into cell; initiation of synthesis of several specific enzymes preventing replication of virus RNA and synthesis of virus proteins.

The antiproliferative action is caused by direct mechanisms that cause changes in the cytoskeleton and cell membrane, regulating the processes of differentiation and cellular metabolism, which in turn prevent the proliferation of cells, especially tumor cells.

It helps to modulate the expression of some oncogenes (myc, sys, ras) which allows to “normalize” neoplastic cell transformation and thereby inhibit tumor growth.

The immunomodulatory activity is conditioned by activation of macrophages and natural killer cells (macrophages are involved into the process of presentation of the antigen to the immunocompetent cells, and natural killer cells participate in the immune response to tumor cells).

Indications

Hairy cell leukemia, chronic myeloleukemia, viral hepatitis B, viral active hepatitis C, primary (essential) and secondary thrombocytosis, transient form of chronic granulocytic leukemia and myelofibrosis, multiple myeloma, renal cancer; AIDS-related Kaposi’s sarcoma, fungal mycosis, reticulosarcoma, multiple sclerosis, prevention and treatment of influenza and acute respiratory viral infection.

How to take, the dosage

The dose, frequency and duration of administration are determined according to the indication, severity of the disease, method of administration, and the patient’s individual reaction.

Special Instructions

The Interferon solution should be prepared immediately before use.

In the course of treatment with Interferon leukocyte human dry, systematic monitoring of blood and liver picture is necessary.

In case of flu symptoms, take paracetamol.

Lethargy, fever, chills, loss of appetite, muscle pain, headache, joint pain, sweating, nausea, vomiting, change in taste sensation, dry mouth, weight loss, diarrhea, abdominal pain, constipation, flatulence, increased peristalsis, heartburn, liver dysfunction, hepatitis, dizziness, visual disturbances, ischemic retinopathy, depression, drowsiness, impaired consciousness, nervousness, sleep disorders, skin allergic reactions (rash, itching).
