Helo-Comod, eye drops 10 ml

The medical product HILO-COMOD® ophthalmic preservative-free humectant solution (“Hilo” from Latin). hyaluronic acidum – hyaluronic acid) is a sterile isotonic 0.1% aqueous solution of sodium hyaluronate without preservatives in the original container (the “COMOD®” system).

The HILO-COMOD® solution contains hyaluronic acid (in the form of sodium salt) which is a natural substance. Sodium hyaluronate is a physiological polysaccharide compound found both in the tissues of the eye and in other tissues and body fluids. A special physicochemical property of sodium hyaluronate molecules is their expressed ability to bind water molecules.

The aqueous solution of sodium hyaluronate (HILO-COMOD®) has the necessary viscosity and high adhesive properties with respect to the anterior eye surface (cornea), due to which the HILO-COMOD® solution forms on the cornea surface a uniform and long-lasting tear film, which is not washed off while blinking and does not reduce visual acuity. This protects the eye from dryness and irritation that often occur with contact with the environment and when wearing contact lenses.

The use of HILO-COMOD® solution makes contact lenses more comfortable to wear and HILO-COMOD® solution does not deposit on the surface of the lenses.
HILO-COMOD® solution is housed in the original KOMOD® container which features an ingenious system of reservoirs and valves ensuring no external air ingress and ensuring equal droplet size to be removed regardless of the degree of force applied.

The metal parts and valves of the container which are in contact with the HILO-COMOD solution are partially coated with a thin layer of silver which together with the absolute air-tightness of the system ensures that the HILO-COMOD® solution is sterile in the absence of preservatives for long term use.

This prevents possible undesired effects of the preservatives on the ocular tissue and ensures good tolerance of the HILO-COMOD® solution even with long term use.

Indications

For additional hydration of the anterior surface of the eye (cornea and conjunctiva) with a feeling of “dryness,” a feeling of a foreign body in the eye, or a burning sensation in the eyes.
To moisturize the anterior surface of the eye after ophthalmic surgery, as well as for damage and trauma to the cornea.
To eliminate discomfort when wearing contact lenses.

Pharmacological effect

The medical product “HILO-KOMOD® preservative-free ophthalmic moisturizing solution” (“Hilo” – from the Latin hyaluronic acidum – hyaluronic acid) is a sterile isotonic 0.1% aqueous solution of sodium hyaluronate, not containing preservatives, in an original container (KOMOD® system).

A special physicochemical property of sodium hyaluronate molecules is their pronounced ability to bind water molecules.

An aqueous solution of sodium hyaluronate (HILO-KOMOD®) has the necessary viscosity and high adhesive properties in relation to the anterior surface of the eye (cornea), due to which the HILO-KOMOD® solution forms a uniform pre-corneal tear film on the surface of the cornea, which persists for a long time, which is not washed off when blinking and does not cause a decrease in visual acuity. Thus, the eye is protected for a long time from the feeling of dryness and irritation that often occurs when in contact with the environment, as well as when wearing contact lenses.

The use of HILO-KOMOD® solution makes wearing contact lenses more comfortable, while the HILO-KOMOD® solution is not deposited on the surface of the lenses.
The HILO-KOMOD® solution is placed in the original “KOMOD®” container, which is a complex system of reservoirs and valves that guarantees the absence of air penetration from the outside and ensures the extraction of drops of the same size, regardless of the degree of force applied.

The metal parts and valves of the container in contact with the HILO-KOMOD solution are partially coated with a thin layer of silver, which, together with the absolute tightness of the system, ensures the sterility of the HILO-KOMOD® solution in the absence of preservatives for long-term use.

This eliminates possible undesirable effects of preservatives on eye tissue and ensures good tolerability of the HILO-KOMOD® solution even with long-term use.

Special instructions

Before using the HILO-KOMOD® solution for the first time, please make sure that the transparent sticker with perforations on the cardboard package is not broken (first opening control).
There are no restrictions on the duration of use of the HILO-KOMOD® solution. However, as with any persistent symptoms, it is recommended to consult an ophthalmologist if the discomfort does not subside, for example within two weeks.

Composition

1 ml of HILO-KOMOD® solution contains:

Sodium hyaluronate (sodium salt of hyaluronic acid) – 1 mg

Anhydrous citric acid, sodium citrate dihydrate, sorbitol, water for injection.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to any of the components included in the HILO-KOMOD solution.

Side Effects

In very rare cases, hypersensitivity reactions such as burning or increased lacrimation may occur. All effects stop immediately when the HYLO-KOMOD® solution is discontinued.

Interaction

HYLO-KOMOD® solution should not be used simultaneously with other ophthalmic drugs. In case of combined use with ophthalmic drugs, it is recommended to maintain a pause of at least 30 minutes between instillation of the HILO-KOMOD® solution and the use of other ophthalmic drugs, and the HILO-KOMOD® solution should be used last. Eye ointments should always be used after instillation of HILO-KOMOD® solution.

Storage conditions

HILO-KOMOD® solution should be stored at a temperature not exceeding 25°C. HILO-KOMOD® solution should be stored out of the reach of children.

Shelf life

Shelf life: 3 years.

After opening the container for the first time, the HILO-KOMOD® solution can be used for 6 months.

Mark on the bottle the date when you first instilled the HILO-KOMOD® solution. There is a special space on the bottle label for the patient to fill in with the “Date of First Use.”

Do not use after the expiration date stated on the package.
