Helo-Comod, eye drops 10 ml

The medical product HILO-COMOD® ophthalmic preservative-free humectant solution (“Hilo” from Latin). hyaluronic acidum – hyaluronic acid) is a sterile isotonic 0.1% aqueous solution of sodium hyaluronate without preservatives in the original container (the “COMOD®” system).

The HILO-COMOD® solution contains hyaluronic acid (in the form of sodium salt) which is a natural substance. Sodium hyaluronate is a physiological polysaccharide compound found both in the tissues of the eye and in other tissues and body fluids. A special physicochemical property of sodium hyaluronate molecules is their expressed ability to bind water molecules.

The aqueous solution of sodium hyaluronate (HILO-COMOD®) has the necessary viscosity and high adhesive properties with respect to the anterior eye surface (cornea), due to which the HILO-COMOD® solution forms on the cornea surface a uniform and long-lasting tear film, which is not washed off while blinking and does not reduce visual acuity. This protects the eye from dryness and irritation that often occur with contact with the environment and when wearing contact lenses.

The use of HILO-COMOD® solution makes contact lenses more comfortable to wear and HILO-COMOD® solution does not deposit on the surface of the lenses.
HILO-COMOD® solution is housed in the original KOMOD® container which features an ingenious system of reservoirs and valves ensuring no external air ingress and ensuring equal droplet size to be removed regardless of the degree of force applied.

The metal parts and valves of the container which are in contact with the HILO-COMOD solution are partially coated with a thin layer of silver which together with the absolute air-tightness of the system ensures that the HILO-COMOD® solution is sterile in the absence of preservatives for long term use.

This prevents possible undesired effects of the preservatives on the ocular tissue and ensures good tolerance of the HILO-COMOD® solution even with long term use.

Composition

1 ml of HILO-COMOD® solution contains:

Sodium hyaluronate (sodium salt of hyaluronic acid) – 1 mg

Aqueous citric acid, sodium citrate dihydrate, sorbitol, water for injection.

How to take, the dosage

It is recommended that 1 drop of HILO-COMOD® solution be instilled into the conjunctival sac of each eye three times daily. HILO-COMOD® solution may be injected more frequently if necessary.

The frequency of use of HILO-COOMOD® Solution is determined individually depending on your feelings and in accordance with the recommendations of your ophthalmologist or contact lens specialist. If you use HILO-COOMOD® solution more frequently (e.g. more than 10 times per day) please consult your ophthalmologist. If symptoms and persistent discomfort persist for several days after using HILO-COOMOD® , please also consult an ophthalmologist.

The KOMOD® System contains and allows the extraction of 10 ml of HILO-KOMOD® solution, which corresponds to about 300 drops of solution.

After the entire contents have been used, a new filled container of HILO-COMMOD® solution must be purchased as the system is not designed to be reused.

There is no limit to the duration of use of HILO-COMOD solution.

Types of use and recommendations for contact lens wear

The HILO-COMOD® system is for individual use only.

The patient should wash their hands thoroughly before each application and follow the step-by-step instructions below.

How to use and recommend when wearing contact lenses

Step 1.
Please remove the cap before each application.

Step 2.
Before using HILO-COMMOD® solution for the first time, tip the container upside down and press the base of the container repeatedly until the first drop is seen at the tip of the dropper. The system is then ready to use.
Hold the bottle upside down by placing your thumb near the neck of the bottle and the rest of your fingers on the bottom of the bottle.

Step 3.
Support the hand holding the container with your other hand as shown.

Step 4.
Tilt your head slightly back, slightly lift your lower eyelid with your finger and press the center of the base of the bottle firmly and firmly. This activates the drip mechanism and will eject a single drop of solution. Due to the special design of the valves in the KOMOD® system the droplet size and ejection rate remain the same even when applying very high pressure to the base of the container. Slowly close your eyes, allowing the fluid to spread evenly over the surface of the eye.

Step 5.
Immediately after completing the procedure, place the cap hermetically over the dropper. Make sure that the dropper is dry. Avoid contact of the drip tip with the surface of the eye and skin when injecting.
The KOMOD® System in circulation contains 10 ml of solution, which is equivalent to approximately 300 drops. For technical reasons, a small amount remains in the bottle after the manufacturer’s guaranteed content has been removed.

HILO-COMOD® Solution is compatible with contact lenses.

When wearing contact lenses, HILO-COOMOD® Solution may be dripped into the conjunctival sac without removing the lenses.

Interaction

HILO-COOMOD® Solution should not be used simultaneously with other ophthalmic drugs. In case of combined use with ophthalmological drugs it is recommended to observe a pause of at least 30 minutes between putting HILO-COOMOD® solution and using other ophthalmological drugs, and HILO-COOMOD® solution should be used last. Eye ointments should always be used after injection of HILO-COMOD® solution.
