Gynofort, vaginal cream 20 mg/g 5 g

Gynofort has fungicidal activity against Candida fungi, Trichophyton, Microsporum, Epidermophyton and some Gram-positive bacteria. It is most effective against candidiasis.

Blocking formation of ergosterol from lanosterol in the cell membrane it increases membrane permeability which leads to lysis of the fungus cell.

Vaginal cream is an emulsion of the water-in-oil type, so it gives the butoconazole carrier a bioadhesive property (bioadhesion leads to increased bioavailability and duration of action of the drug substance).

In intravaginal application butoconazole remains on the vaginal mucosa for 4-5 days.

Indications

Vaginal candidiasis caused by Candida albicans.

How to take, the dosage

Intravaginally.

The treatment consists of a single application of the contents of one applicator (about 5 g) inserted into the vagina at any time of the day.

If symptoms persist, microbiological testing should be repeated.

Interaction

Gynofort® cream contains mineral oil, which damages latex or rubber products (including condoms or intravaginal diaphragms), so it is not recommended to use the above contraceptives for 72 hours after using Gynofort®. Other methods of contraception should be used.

Contraindications

Side effects

Burning, itching, soreness and swelling of the vaginal wall, pain/spasms in the lower abdomen.

Pregnancy use

The drug is contraindicated in pregnancy and lactation.
