Gentle Temp 720 (MC-720-E) Omron Thermometer

The Omron Gentle Temp 720 Infrared Forehead Thermometer, model MC-720-E, is an electronic device designed to instantly measure body temperature on the surface of the forehead in children and adults. The Omron Gentle Temp 720 can be used to measure the surface temperature of objects such as baby food.

How the device works

The thermometer captures infrared radiation from the forehead at the measurement point and then calculates the equivalent temperature value of the oral measurement using a unique algorithm based on a sample of real body temperature data.

The device measures infrared radiation coming from the air or surface to determine surface and room temperatures.

The device provides high efficiency in measuring body temperature, combined with ease of use.

The forehead temperature measurement does not require the thermometer to be bodily fixed, so measurement values are usually lower than underarm or oral measurements. However, because the forehead has blood vessels that are much less prone to constriction (a natural function of body temperature equalization), this area is thought to be best suited for determining internal body temperature.

The device can show temperature in degrees Celsius and Fahrenheit, is controlled by a single button and turns off by itself after 1 minute of inactivity. A beep tells you when the measurement is complete.

The thermometer features a backlight to read measurements in the dark (hospital room or baby’s room at night).
