Interaction
Meloxicam together with other GH inhibitors, including GKS and salicylates, may increase the risk of gastrointestinal mucosal ulcers and gastrointestinal bleeding due to their synergism. Co-administration of meloxicam and other NSAIDs is not recommended.
Directions for use
Orally, with meals, without chewing.
Special Instructions
Since the potential risk of adverse reactions depends on the dose and duration of treatment, the lowest effective dose should be used for the shortest possible course. Duration of the treatment course is determined individually, depending on the course of the disease and effectiveness of the therapy. The drug should not be used concomitantly with other NSAIDs, total daily dose of meloxicam when used in different dosage forms should not exceed 15 mg.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the active substance or excipients of the drug, other NSAIDs; complete or incomplete combination of bronchial asthma, angioedema or urticaria, recurrent polyposis of the nose and sinuses and intolerance to acetylsalicylic acid and other NSAIDs (including history); erosive-ulcerative lesions of the mucous membrane of the stomach and duodenum in the acute stage or recently suffered; inflammatory bowel disease – Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis in the acute stage; severe liver failure or active liver disease; severe renal failure with creatinine Cl less than 30 ml/min (patients who are not under hemodialysis, with confirmed hyperkalemia), progressive renal disease; active gastrointestinal bleeding, recent cerebrovascular bleeding or confirmed diagnosis of blood clotting disorders, thyroid diseases; decompensated heart failure, acute myocardial infarction, period after coronary artery bypass grafting; hereditary lactose intolerance, glucose and galactose malabsorption, lactase deficiency; pregnancy; breast-feeding; children under 12 years old.
Side effects
The undesirable phenomena presented below are listed according to the anatomico-physiological classification and frequency of occurrence. The frequency of occurrence is determined by WHO and has the following gradation: very frequent – more than 10%; frequent – more than 1%; infrequent – 0.1-1%; rare – 0.01-0.1%; very rare – less than 0.01%, including individual cases.
Overdose
Symptoms: impaired consciousness, nausea, vomiting, epigastric pain, gastrointestinal bleeding, acute renal failure, liver failure, respiratory arrest, asystole.
Pregnancy use
It is contraindicated for use during pregnancy.
