Pharmacological properties

The drug Gastal^® – is a combined antacid that reduces the increased acidity of gastric juice and has no stimulating effect on gastric juice secretion.

Aluminum hydroxide-magnesium carbonate gel and magnesium hydroxide provide immediate (immediately after intake) and long-term (about 2 hours) neutralization of hydrochloric acid of gastric juice, with maintenance of gastric acidity at physiological level (pH 3-5). One tablet of Gastal^® neutralizes 21.5 mmol of hydrochloric acid.

Gastal ^® suppresses the action of pepsin, lysolecithin and bile acids, eliminates dyspeptic symptoms. It enhances protective and regenerative processes in the gastric mucosa. Aluminum ions have a cytoprotective effect due to increased secretion of mucin and sodium hydrocarbonate, activation of prostaglandin E2 and NO, accumulation of epidermal growth factor in the area of mucosal damage, increased concentration of phospholipids in the gastric wall.

Pharmacokinetics

The drug Gastal^® has no systemic effect in patients with normal renal function. After interaction with hydrochloric acid of gastric juice aluminum hydroxide reacts with phosphates and carbonates in alkaline intestinal environment and is excreted with feces as insoluble salts. Magnesium hydroxide reacts with hydrochloric acid in gastric juice to form magnesium chloride, which has osmotic properties and a mild laxative effect, which neutralizes the fixing effect of aluminum hydroxide in the small intestine. Magnesium ions are excreted in the feces as insoluble carbonate.

The active ingredients are aluminum hydroxide-magnesium carbonate and magnesium hydroxide.

Each tablet contains 450.00 mg aluminum hydroxide-magnesium carbonate gel and 300.00 mg magnesium hydroxide.

Other ingredients (excipients) are: lactose monohydrate, mannitol, pregelatinized starch, colloidal silica, croscarmellose sodium (type A), aspartame, magnesium stearate, mint flavoring.

Gastal, [cherry]

Each tablet contains 450.00 mg aluminum hydroxide-magnesium carbonate gel and 300.00 mg magnesium hydroxide.

The other ingredients (excipients) are: lactose monohydrate, mannitol, pregelatinized starch, colloidal silica, croscarmellose sodium (type A), aspartame, magnesium stearate, cherry flavoring E 9407963 (cherry tablets).

Gastal, [orange]

Each tablet contains 450.00 mg aluminum hydroxide-magnesium carbonate gel and 300.00 mg magnesium hydroxide.

Other ingredients (excipients) are: lactose monohydrate, mannitol, pregelatinized starch, colloidal silica, croscarmellose sodium (type A), aspartame, magnesium stearate, orange flavoring 1013042 (orange tablets).

How to take, the dosage

Always take the medicine in full accordance with the package insert or as recommended by your doctor or pharmacist. If in doubt, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.

Dosing regimen

Adults

Adults with a body weight of at least 50 kg

1-2 tablets 4-6 times daily about 1 hour after meals and before bedtime, but no more than 8 tablets per day. The duration of use is not more than 2 weeks.

Similar doses are recommended for the treatment of heartburn, regardless of meals.

Adults with body weight less than 50 kg

The dose is half of the recommended dose for adults and children over 12 years of age with a body weight of at least 50 kg (1 tablet 4 times a day). The duration of use is not more than 2 weeks.

Special groups of patients

Patients with impaired renal function

Dose adjustment is not required. The duration of administration is not more than 2 weeks.

Application in children and adolescents

Children over 12 years of age with a body weight of at least 50 kg
