Furasol, 100 mg 1 g 15 pcs

Furasol is an antimicrobial agent, a nitrofuran derivative. It is effective against Gram-positive cocci (Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp.), Gram-negative bacilli (E. coli, Salmonella spp., Shigella spp., Klebsiella spp.). Resistant: Acinetobacter spp., most strains of Proteus spp., Serratia spp.

The mechanism of action is associated with inhibition of nucleic acid synthesis. Depending on concentration it has bactericidal or bacteriostatic action.

Against most bacteria the bacteriostatic concentration is 10-20 µg/ml. Bactericidal concentration is about 2 times higher.

Under the influence of nitrofurans in microorganisms there is inhibition of respiratory chain activity and tricarboxylic acid cycle (Krebs cycle) as well as inhibition of other biochemical processes, which leads to destruction of their envelope or cytoplasmic membrane. Nitrofurans increase complement titer and the ability of leukocytes to phagocytize microorganisms.

1 sachet of powder for the preparation of a solution for topical and external use contains:

Sodium chloride – 900 mg.

How to take, the dosage

Topically, externally.

The solution is prepared immediately before use. The contents of the bag are dissolved in 200 ml of hot water and warm solution is used to rinse the mouth and oropharynx 2-3 times a day.

The drug solution is also used to wash wounds; after surgical treatment it is applied directly to the wound surface, followed by application of a sterile gauze dressing, or on a dressing and then on the wound. Apply to the wound surface 2-3 times a day.

Interaction

In combination with antibiotics it shows synergism.

In case of alcohol consumption during treatment with the drug, the probability of skin allergic reactions increases.

The solution is prepared immediately before use.

Prepared solution should not be stored.

Contraindications

Side effects

In some cases, allergic reactions may occur.

In this case the drug should be discontinued.

Prescribe symptomatic therapy.

Overdose

The drug is mildly toxic.

There have been no reported cases of overdose.
