Pharmacological properties

Pharmacodynamics.
The drug Espumisan^® extra reduces gas in the gastrointestinal tract (GIT). The active substance, simethicone, has surface-active properties and is able to reduce the surface tension at the interface between the two environments liquid/gas, which promotes the fusion of gas bubbles and destruction of foam in the intestine, whereupon the released gas is absorbed or excreted naturally under the influence of intestinal peristalsis. The use of simethicone in preparation for diagnostic abdominal examinations prevents image defects caused by gas bubbles.

Pharmacokinetics
Simethicone is chemically inert and after oral administration is not absorbed from the GI tract and acts only in its lumen. It does not interact with microorganisms and enzymes and does not affect digestive processes. It is excreted intestinally unchanged.

Indications

symptoms of excessive formation and accumulation of gases in the gastrointestinal tract (including flatulence, increased gas formation in the postoperative period);
symptoms of excessive gas formation caused by functional dyspepsia;
preparation for diagnostic studies of the abdominal and pelvic organs (ultrasound, radiography, etc.).

The drug Espumisan® extra reduces the amount of gases in the gastrointestinal tract (GIT). The active substance, simethicone, has surface-active properties and the ability to reduce surface tension at the interface between two liquid/gas media, which promotes the fusion of gas bubbles and the destruction of foam in the intestine, as a result of which the released gas is absorbed or excreted naturally under the influence of intestinal peristalsis. The use of simethicone in preparation for diagnostic examinations of the abdominal organs prevents the occurrence of image defects caused by gas bubbles.

Special instructions

If excess gas persists for a long time, you should consult a doctor for a medical examination.

The drug Espumisan® extra contains sorbitol (sorbitol), therefore its use in patients with hereditary fructose intolerance is contraindicated.

Information for patients with diabetes: 1 sachet contains 647.90 mg of sorbitol, which corresponds to 0.05 bread unit (XE).

The effect of the drug on the ability to drive vehicles and other mechanisms

The drug Espumisan® extra does not affect the ability to drive vehicles and other mechanisms or to perform work that requires increased concentration.

Composition for 1 sachet (sachet):

Active ingredient: – 125.00 mg

Excipients: sorbitol – 647.90 mg, talc – 20.00 mg, malic acid – 6.00 mg, lemon flavor – 1.00 mg, cream flavor – 0.10 mg.

Pregnancy

Espumisan® extra can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, intestinal obstruction, hereditary fructose intolerance.

Side Effects

No side effects were observed when using Espumisan® extra. It is possible to develop allergic reactions to the components of the drug.

Interaction

Clinically significant interactions of simethicone with other drugs have not been established.

Overdose

There are no known cases of overdose.

Storage conditions

Store at a temperature not exceeding 25 °C.
Keep out of the reach of children!

Shelf life

3 years. Do not use after expiration date.
