The drug Enerion is a synthetic compound similar in structure to thiamine, compared to which the molecule has an open thiazole cycle, an additional disulfide bond, and a lipophilic ester.

This modification makes sulbutiamine well soluble in fat, rapidly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract and easily passes through the BET; unlike thiamine it is able to accumulate in cells of the reticular formation, hippocampus and dentate gyrus, as well as Purkinje cells and glomeruli of the cerebellar granular layer.

Anerion improves coordination of movement and increases resistance to physical stress, increases resistance of cortical structures to repetitive anoxia. The drug is effective in the symptomatic treatment of functional asthenia.

Pharmacokinetics

Sulbutiamine is quickly absorbed, C_max of the drug in plasma is reached 1-2 hours after administration. T_1/2 is about 5 hours. The drug is excreted in the urine.

How to take, the dosage

Ingestion. The drug Enerion is recommended for use in adult patients only.

The daily dose is 2-3 tablets (400-600 mg) in 2 doses (during breakfast and lunch).

The duration of treatment should not exceed 4 weeks.

Special Instructions

The excipients of Enerion include lactose monohydrate.

As a consequence, this drug is not recommended for persons with lactose deficiency, galactosemia or glucose/galactose malabsorption syndrome.

Impact on the ability to drive and perform work requiring high psychomotor reaction rate. No effect.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients of Enerion.

With caution: persons under 18 years of age (the drug is not recommended due to lack of clinical data).

Side effects

Allergic reactions (presence of Sunset Yellow dye in the drug), digestive disorders, neuropsychiatric reactions (tremor, headache, agitation, general malaise).

Overdose

Symptoms: agitation with phenomena of euphoria and tremors of the extremities are transient and do not require special treatment.

Pregnancy use

According to the results of clinical studies, the drug does not affect the development of the fetus.

Particularly in the absence of sufficient clinical data, however, it is not recommended to take Enerion during pregnancy and while breastfeeding, because it is currently unknown whether sulbutiamine is able to penetrate into the breast milk.
