Enam® refers to medicines affecting the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS),
– ACE inhibitors. Enam® is used for treatment of essential hypertension (primary arterial hypertension (AH))

How to take, the dosage
Interaction
Concomitant administration of Enam with NSAIDs may decrease the hypotensive effect of enalapril;
with potassium-saving diuretics (spironolactone, triamterene, amiloride) – possible development of hyperkalemia;
with lithium salts – slowing of lithium excretion (monitoring of lithium concentration in blood plasma is indicated.)
Ethanol increases hypotensive effect of the drug. When concomitant use with antipyretic and analgesic drugs the efficiency of Enam may decrease. Enalapril weakens the effect of drugs containing theophylline.
Cimetidine prolongs the effect of enalapril.
Concomitant use with diuretics, beta-adrenoblockers, methyldopa, nitrates, calcium channel blockers, hydralazine, prazosin increases the hypotensive effect of enalapril.
The use of Enam with anesthetics with antihypertensive effects may cause arterial hypotension.

Overdose
Symptoms: arterial hypotension.
Treatment: the patient should lie down, elevate the legs. In mild cases of overdose the patient is prescribed oral saline.
In more serious cases the measures aimed at BP stabilization are taken under hospital conditions, physiological solution or plasma substitutes are administered intravenously.
Hemodialysis may be used.
