Eltacin is a combined preparation containing a mixture of substituted amino acids: glycine, glutamic acid and cystine, which are metabolism regulators: increasing intracellular glutathione concentration and glutathione-dependent enzyme activity, normalizing redox processes and oxygen utilization in tissues, due to which the drug:

• exhibits antioxidant (reducing free radicals, peroxide compounds, malonic dialdehyde) and antihypoxant (increasing the body’s resistance to oxygen deficiency, increasing the synthesis of adenosine triphosphoric acid (ATP)) action;
• increases myocardial contractility;
• increases physical performance;
• improves the quality of life of patients with chronic heart failure (increasing social adaptation, improving psychoemotional state);
• accelerates the recovery of performance after intense physical activity in children.

How to take, the dosage

Eltacin is taken sublingually. The tablet may also be chewed and held in the mouth under the tongue until dissolved.

Chronic heart failure class I-III functional class according to NYHA classification in adults: 1 tablet 3 times a day sublingually; the course of treatment varies from 1 to 3 months depending on the disease severity; repeated courses are appointed upon the doctor’s recommendation.

Chronic heart failure class I-II functional class according to NYHA classification in children aged from 12 to 18 years old: 1 tablet 3 times daily with sublingual, the course of treatment from 1 to 3 months depending on the disease severity, repeated courses are appointed according to the doctor’s recommendation.

In children aged 12-18 years old vegetative dysfunction syndrome: 1 tablet 3 times daily by tongue; the course of treatment depends on the disease severity; repeated courses are to be prescribed under the doctor’s recommendation.

Prevention of chronic physical overexertion in children aged 11 to 15 years: 1 tablet 2 times a day for 2-3 weeks.

In recovery period after intensive physical activity during sports activities in children aged from 11 to 15 years: 1 tablet 3 times a day for 2 weeks.

Interaction

Can be taken concomitantly with angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors, beta-adrenoblockers, diuretics, aldosterone antagonists, organic nitrates and slow calcium channel blockers.

Contraindications

High sensitivity to Eltacin, children under 11 years of age (efficacy and safety not established).

Side effects

Allergic reactions are possible.

Pregnancy use

Clinical studies on the use of the drug in pregnant women and during lactation have not been conducted.

The use during pregnancy and lactation is not recommended.
