Interaction
Compatible with NSAIDs, paracetamol and GCS. Cimetidine and propranolol decrease hepatic clearance of lidocaine (decreased metabolism due to inhibition of microsomal oxidation and decreased hepatic blood flow) and increase the risk of toxic effects.
When prescribed with aymalin, phenytoin, verapamil, quinidine, amiodarone it is possible to increase the negative inotropic effect. Co-administration with beta-adrenoblockers increases the risk of bradycardia. Cardiac glycosides weaken the cardiotonic effect.
The curare-like drugs increase muscle relaxation. Procainamide when used concomitantly with lidocaine increases the risk of CNS agitation and hallucinations.
Concomitant use of hypnotics and sedatives may increase their CNS depressant effects.
In intravenous administration of hexobarbital or sodium thiopental with lidocaine, respiratory depression is possible. Potentiates the effects of MAO inhibitors.
Concomitant use with polymyxin B may increase inhibitory effects on neuromuscular transmission, so in this case it is necessary to monitor the respiratory function of the patient. The effectiveness of hypoglycemic drugs, doxorubicin, teniposide, etoposide may decrease.
