Dimexide, concentrate 100 ml

Dimexide is an external remedy for local use for inflammatory and some other diseases (mainly diseases of the musculoskeletal system).

The drug has the ability to penetrate through biological membranes, including skin barriers.

The reason for using in inflammatory diseases of the musculoskeletal system is its analgesic and anti-inflammatory effect.

The drug has a moderate antiseptic and fibrinolytic effect. It enhances penetration through the skin of a number of medicinal substances. Dimexide is low-toxic.

Indications

Inflammatory and painful phenomena in the complex therapy of rheumatoid arthritis, Bechterew’s disease, deforming osteoarthritis, arthropathies, as well as bruises, sprains, traumatic infiltrates, septic wounds (which are not cleared or poorly cleared by the usual methods of treatment), burns, phlegmons of various localizations and others.

It is also used in treatment of erythema nodosa.

In combination with heparin it is used in case of thrombophlebitis and in combination with antimicrobial drugs (liniment of synthomycin and others) in the treatment of systemic scleroderma, furunculosis, rosacea, acne and others.

100 ml of dimethyl sulfoxide in undiluted form

How to take, the dosage

Externally. In the form of compresses, tampons mainly in aqueous solutions of 30-50% concentration.

In the treatment of rust and trophic ulcers dimethoxide is used in 30-50% aqueous solutions of 50-100 ml 2-3 times a day.

In eczema and diffuse streptodermia it is recommended to apply compresses with 40-90% dimexide solution.

In pustular skin diseases a 40% solution of dimexide is used.

For local pain relief in pain syndromes 25-50% solution is prescribed as compresses 100-150ml 2-3 times a day.

When treating deep burns patches with 20-30% dimexide solution are used.

Special Instructions

Due to the fact that dimethoxide may increase not only the activity but also the toxicity of some drugs, caution should be exercised when prescribing it simultaneously with other drugs.

A drug tolerance test is recommended.

To do this, dimexide is applied to the skin using a cotton swab dipped in it.

A harsh redness and itching could indicate hypersensitivity.

If allergic reactions occur during treatment with the drug, antihistamines are prescribed.

Contraindications

Side effects

Allergic reactions, rarely bronchospasm.

Some patients do not perceive the smell of the drug well (nausea, vomiting urges).
