Pharmgroup:

Inflammatory agent for topical use.

Pharmaceutical action:

An anti-inflammatory drug for topical use, inactivates hydroxyl radicals, improves the course of metabolic processes in the inflammation focus.

It also has local anesthetic, analgesic and antimicrobial action; it has moderate fibrinolytic activity.

It penetrates through the skin, mucous membranes, the shell of microbial cells (increases their sensitivity to antibiotics) and other biological membranes and increases their permeability to drugs.

How to take, the dosage

Outwardly, in the form of applications and irrigations (washes). A gauze napkin is soaked in the solution of required concentration and applied to the affected areas for 20-30 minutes. A polyethylene film and cotton or linen cloth are placed over the napkin. The duration of applications is 10-15 days.

In the treatment of rust and trophic ulcers it is used in the form of 30-50% solution 50-100 ml 2-3 times a day.

In eczema – compresses with 40-90% solution.

For local pain relief in pain syndromes 25-50% solution in the form of compresses 100-150 ml 2-3 times a day.
For the skin of the face and other highly sensitive areas 10-20-30% solutions are used.

In skin-plastic surgery dressings with 10-20% solution are used on transplanted skin autografts and homografts immediately after operations and in the following days of the postoperative period until firm engraftment of the graft.

The 5% solution in Ringer’s solution is used as a preservative medium for storage of skin homotransplants.
Less concentrated solutions are used for washing of purulent-necrotic and inflammatory foci and cavities.

Special Instructions

Some patients smell garlic in the inhaled air.

Before using the drug, a tolerance test should be performed. This involves applying dimethyl sulfoxide in the right concentration to the skin with a cotton swab dipped in it; flushing and itching indicates hypersensitivity.

Dimethylsulfoxide crystallization occurs when stored at 18 ° C and below, which does not affect the quality of the drug. To melt the crystals, the bottle with the drug should be carefully heated in a water bath (water temperature not exceeding 60 ° C).

The use of the drug in accordance with the instructions does not affect the ability to drive vehicles and engage in potentially dangerous activities requiring a high level of concentration and quick psychomotor reactions.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity, severe hepatic and/or renal failure, angina pectoris, marked atherosclerosis, glaucoma, cataracts, stroke, coma, myocardial infarction, pregnancy, lactation.

Side effects

Allergic reactions, contact dermatitis, erythematous rash, dry skin, mild burning, itching dermatitis; rarely – bronchospasm.
