A myotropic antispasmodic agent of benzimidazole derivative action. It has antispasmodic effect on smooth muscles of blood vessels and internal organs.

Lower blood pressure by reducing cardiac output and dilation of peripheral vessels. The hypotensive activity of bendazole is very moderate and the effect is short-lived.

Causes brief dilation of the cerebral vessels.

It facilitates synaptic transmission in the spinal cord.

The immunostimulatory activity is associated with regulation of the ratio of cGMP and cAMP concentrations in immune cells (increases cGMP content), leading to the proliferation of mature sensitized T- and B-lymphocytes, their secretion of mutual regulatory factors, cooperative response and activation of the final effector function of cells.

Special instructions

Dibazole is not recommended for long-term use for the treatment of high blood pressure, especially in elderly patients.

Interaction

With the combined use of diuretic drugs, phentolamine and antihypertensive drugs with bendazole, a mutual enhancement of the hypotensive effect is observed.

The drug, when used in combination with beta-adrenergic receptor blockers, prevents an increase in total peripheral vascular resistance.
