Cytochrome-C is a metabolic agent, has antihypoxic, trophic effect, stimulates regeneration processes. It is a catalyst of cellular respiration.
The mechanism of action of the drug is associated with the presence of iron in the prosthetic group, which is able to convert from oxidized to reduced state.
This results in acceleration of endogenous redox reactions and metabolic processes in tissues, improves oxygen utilization and decreases hypoxia of tissues in various pathological conditions.
Pharmacokinetics
Highly and completely absorbed.
It penetrates well into the cells of organs and tissues.
Indications
Cytochrome-C is used in the treatment as a means to improve tissue respiration, in conditions accompanied by disorders of redox processes in the body:
Composition
1 vial contains:
Active substance:
Cytochrome C.
How to take, the dosage
The drug is used intravenously and intramuscularly. Before using Cytochrome-C the contents of the bottle should be dissolved in 4 ml of water for injection and individual sensitivity to it should be determined.
To this end, 0.1 ml of the drug (0.25 mg) is injected intradermally. If no reaction occurs within 30 minutes (redness of the face, skin itching, urticaria), it is possible to start treatment with the drug. A biological test must be repeated before a second course is prescribed.
The drug is administered intravenously slowly or intramuscularly in an amount of 10-20 mg 1-2 times a day. The course of treatment is 10-14 days.
In case of heart failure the drug is diluted in 200 ml of isotonic sodium chloride solution or 5% glucose solution and injected intravenously dropwise (30-40 drops per minute) for 6-8 hours. The daily dose is 30-80 mg.
In the postoperative period (operations for congenital and acquired heart defects) the drug is administered intravenously 2 times a day at 10 mg per injection. In case of a severe condition (trauma, shock, hepatic coma, poisoning by sleeping pills and carbon monoxide) the drug is prescribed in an amount of 50-100 mg. In case of neonatal asphyxia the drug is injected into the umbilical vein during the first two minutes after birth in a dose of 10 mg.
In bronchial asthma the drug is prescribed intramuscularly 2 times a day in a dose of 5-10 mg per injection. The course of treatment lasts from 14 to 25 days, depending on the severity of hypoxia.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the drug, pregnancy, lactation.
Side effects
chills, hyperthermia (if rapidly injected into a vein).
