Crosacid (pantoprazole) belongs to the group of drugs – proton pump inhibitors (H+/K+-ATPase).
Blocks the final stage of hydrochloric acid secretion, reducing basal and stimulated secretion, regardless of the nature of the stimulus.
The level of decrease in hydrochloric acid production depends on the dose of the drug taken. Crosacid does not affect the motility of the gastrointestinal tract.
The secretory activity is normalized in 3-4 days after discontinuation of the drug.
Indications
Gastric or duodenal ulcer in the acute phase, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, eradication of Helicobacter pylori (in combination with antibiotic therapy), reflux esophagitis.

How to take, the dosage
In the mouth, without chewing, with liquids.
In peptic ulcer disease – 40-80 mg/day.
In elderly patients with CKD – not more than 40 mg/day.
The course of treatment for healing of duodenal ulcer is 2 weeks, for gastric ulcer and reflux esophagitis – 4-8 weeks.
In case of hepatic insufficiency – 40 mg once every 2 days.
Interaction
Limits the effect of drugs absorbed at acidic pH values (including ketoconazole).
Special Instructions
Before and after treatment, endoscopic monitoring to rule out malignancy is mandatory, because treatment can mask symptoms and delay correct diagnosis.
Contraindications
Dyspepsia of neurotic genesis, malignant gastrointestinal diseases, hypersensitivity to pantoprazole.
Side effects
Headache, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, painful breast tension, weakness, skin rash, itchy skin, dizziness; hyperthermia, depression, visual disturbances.
