The herb of thermopsis has an expectorant effect, having a moderate irritant effect on the mucous membrane receptors of the stomach, reflexively increases secretion of bronchial glands. Alkaloids contained in thermopsis herb (cytisine, methylcytisine, pachycardine, anagirine, thermopsin and thermopsidine) have an excitatory effect on respiratory and, in high doses, vomiting centers.

Sodium bicarbonate stimulates bronchial gland secretion and helps reduce sputum viscosity.

Pharmacokinetics
The drug components are well absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract. Maximal action occurs 30-60 minutes after oral administration and lasts for 2-6 hours. It is excreted by the kidneys, respiratory mucosa and bronchial glands.

Indications

Respiratory diseases, accompanied by cough with sputum difficult to separate (tracheitis, bronchitis) – in the complex therapy.

How to take, the dosage

Adults – 1 tablet 3 times a day, children over 12 years – 1 tablet 2-3 times a day. The course of treatment is 3-5 days. The need for repeated course of treatment is determined by the physician. The maximum single dose for adults (in terms of thermopsis) is 0.1 g (14 tablets), the maximum daily dose is 0.3 g (42 tablets).

Contraindications

High sensitivity to the ingredients of the drug; gastric and duodenal ulcer in the acute phase; children under 12 years of age; pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Do not prescribe the drug in lung diseases with a tendency to hemoptysis (cancer and lung tuberculosis with bleeding).
