An expectorant of vegetable origin.

The herb of thermopsis has expectorant action, having a moderate irritant effect on the mucous membrane receptors of the stomach, reflexively increases secretion of bronchial glands.

The alkaloids contained in the herb of thermopsis (cytisine, methylcytisine, pachycardine, anagirine, thermopsidine) have a stimulating effect on respiratory and, in high doses, on the vomiting centers.

Sodium bicarbonate stimulates bronchial gland secretion and helps reduce sputum viscosity.

Composition per tablet.

Active ingredients:

thermopsis lanceolate herb – 0.0067 g;

Sodium hydrocarbonate – 0.2500 g

Auxiliary substances:

Potato starch – 0.0279 g;

Talc – 0.0054 g

How to take, the dosage

In adults, 1 tablet 3 times a day is prescribed by mouth. The course of treatment is 3-5 days.

The highest single dose in terms of thermopsis is 0.1 g (14 tablets). The highest daily dose in terms of thermopsis is 0.3 g (42 tablets).

Children over 12 years – 1 tablet 2-3 times a day. The course of treatment is 3-5 days. The necessity of prescribing a repeated course is determined by the doctor.

Interaction

Adsorbents, astringents, and coating agents may reduce absorption of the alkaloids in the gastrointestinal tract of thermopsis herb.

Cough pills should not be used at the same time as medications containing codeine and other anti-cough medications, as this makes it difficult to cough up sputum.

Special Instructions

The administration of copious amounts of lukewarm water is recommended to improve the liquefaction and separation of sputum.

Cough pills do not affect driving and operating machinery.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity, gastric and duodenal ulcer in the acute phase, children (under 12 years).

Side effects

Possible allergic reactions; nausea.

Overdose

Symptoms: nausea, vomiting.

Treatment: gastric lavage, symptomatic.

Pregnancy use

The use is contraindicated in pregnancy and during breastfeeding.
