Corvalol, drops, 25 ml

A combined preparation, the action of which is caused by the properties of its constituent substances. It has a sedative and antispasmodic effect. Facilitates the onset of natural sleep.

The ethyl ester of α-bromisovaleric acid has sedative (similar to the effect of valerian) and antispasmodic effects. Phenobarbital increases the sedative effect of the other components, helps to reduce CNS agitation and facilitates the onset of sleep.

Pearmint oil has a reflex vasodilatory and antispasmodic effect.

Indications

As a sedative and vasodilator for the following diseases: Functional disorders of the cardiovascular system (cardialgia, sinus tachycardia, increased BP);

insomnia (trouble falling asleep);

neurotic conditions;

vegetative lability;

irritability; hypochondriac syndrome.

As an antispasmodic agent: spasm of the muscles of the gastrointestinal tract (intestinal and biliary colic).

How to take, the dosage

The dosage is set individually.

Adults are usually prescribed 15-30 drops 3 times a day before meals.

In case of tachycardia the single dose may be increased to 40-50 drops. Children are prescribed up to 3-15 drops per day depending on the age and clinical picture of the disease.

The duration of use of the drug is determined by the doctor individually.

Interaction

Phenobarbital (an inducer of microsomal oxidation) may decrease the effectiveness of drugs metabolized in the liver.

Special Instructions

During treatment, caution should be exercised when driving motor vehicles and engaging in other potentially dangerous activities that require increased concentration and quick psychomotor reactions.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity; severe hepatic and/or renal insufficiency; period of lactation (breast-feeding).

Side effects

Sleepiness, dizziness, decreased ability to concentrate, allergic reactions.

With long-term use – chronic bromine poisoning (depression, apathy, rhinitis, conjunctivitis, hemorrhagic diathesis, movement coordination disorders);

drug dependence.

Overdose

Symptoms: CNS depression, nystagmus, ataxia, BP decrease, agitation, chronic bromine intoxication (depression, apathy, rhinitis, conjunctivitis, hemorrhagic diathesis, movement coordination disorders).

The treatment: symptomatic, with CNS depression – caffeine, nikethamide.

Pregnancy use

Prescription of the drug during pregnancy is possible only under strict indications.

If it is necessary to prescribe the drug during lactation, discontinuation of breastfeeding should be considered.
