Special instructions
Long-term use should be avoided. With long-term use over large areas of the skin, the frequency of side effects and the risk of edema, arterial hypertension, hyperglycemia, and decreased body resistance increases.
When clobetasol propionate is used externally, suppression of the pituitary-adrenal system is possible. This is expressed in a decrease in the production of ACTH by the pituitary gland, a decrease in the level of cortisol in the blood and the development of iatrogenic Cushing’s syndrome. These changes disappear after cessation of treatment. Adrenal cortical function should be regularly monitored by measuring cortisol levels in the blood and urine after stimulation of the adrenal glands with ACTH.
If an infection develops in the area where the drug is applied, appropriate antibacterial or antifungal treatment should be prescribed. If symptoms of infection do not go away, you should stop using Cloveit until the infection is completely cured.
You should avoid applying the drug to the skin in the eyelid area in patients with closed- or open-angle glaucoma, with cataracts due to the risk of exacerbation of the disease. On the skin of the face, in the axillary and groin areas, the drug should be used only in cases of special need, taking into account increased absorption and an increased risk of side effects (telangiectasia, perioral dermatitis).
Use with caution in atrophic conditions of subcutaneous fat, especially in the elderly.
Cloveit may enhance the effect of immunosuppressants and weaken the effect of immunostimulating drugs.
