Immunomodulatory drug which influences cellular, humoral immunity reactions and nonspecific resistance of the body. It has interferonogenic action.

Bendazole as a component of the drug induces production of endogenous interferon. Enzymes induced by interferon in cells of different organs inhibit viral replication. In addition, by activating immunocompetent cells, the drug promotes normalization of the immune status.

Timogen acts on the T-cell link of immunity. Ascorbic acid activates the humoral part of the immune system, normalizes capillary permeability, thus suppressing the inflammatory process.

Pharmacokinetics

After oral administration is completely absorbed from the GI tract. Bioavailability of bendazole is about 80%, thymogen – no more than 15% and ascorbic acid – 90%.

• Metabolism

Timogen under the influence of peptidases is broken down into L-glutamic acid and L-tryptophan, which are used by the body in protein synthesis.

• Elimation

Metabolites of ascorbic acid and bendazole are excreted in the urine. T 1/2 of the components does not exceed 3 h.

Indications

Prevention and comprehensive therapy of influenza and acute respiratory viral infections in children from one year of age.

How to take, the dosage

In a bottle of powder add 40 ml of water (boiled, cooled to room temperature), shake well. The contents should dissolve completely. The volume of the solution after adding water is 50 ml.

The regimens for therapeutic and preventive use are identical.

Ingestion 30 minutes before a meal.

For children aged from 1 to 3 years old – 2 ml of the solution 3 times a day;

For children aged from 3 to 6 years old – 4 ml 3 times a day;

For children aged 6 to 10 years – 8 ml 3 times a day;

For children aged over 10 years – 12 ml 3 times a day.

The course of application is 4 days. Prophylactic course is repeated in 3-4 weeks if necessary.

Interaction

Ascorbic acid increases the concentration in the blood of antibacterial drugs of the tetracycline series and benzylpenicillin. Improves intestinal absorption of drugs Fe. Reduces the effectiveness of heparin and indirect anticoagulants.

Acetylsalicylic acid (ASA), oral contraceptives, fresh juices and alkaline drinking reduce its absorption and assimilation. Concomitant use with ASA increases urinary excretion of ascorbic acid and decreases ASA excretion.

ASA reduces absorption of ascorbic acid by about 30%. Ascorbic acid increases the risk of crystalluria when using drugs containing acetylsalicylic acid (ASA) and short-acting sulfonamides, slows renal excretion of acids, increases excretion of drugs with an alkaline reaction (including alkaloids), reduces the blood concentration of oral contraceptives.

In concomitant use reduces the chronotropic effect of isoprenaline. Reduces the therapeutic effect of antipsychotic drugs (neuroleptics) – phenothiazine derivatives, tubal reabsorption of amphetamine and tricyclic antidepressants. Barbiturates and primidone increase excretion of ascorbic acid with urine.

Possible concomitant use with antiviral drugs and agents of symptomatic therapy of influenza and acute respiratory infections.

Special Instructions

In the recommended doses, the drug Citovir-3 is compatible with all drugs used for symptomatic treatment of influenza and other acute respiratory infections.

In repeated courses with the use of oral solution or syrup, it is recommended to monitor blood glucose levels.

Periodic use with renal dysfunction

In long-term use periodic monitoring of renal function is necessary.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, diabetes mellitus, pregnancy, children under 1 year of age.

With caution: During breastfeeding, use is possible if the estimated benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the baby.
