Chymotrypsin, lyophilizate 10 mg 10 pcs

Chymotrypsin is a proteolytic enzyme derived from the pancreas of cattle.

Hydrolyzes proteins and peptones to form relatively low molecular weight peptides, cleaves bonds formed by aromatic amino acid residues (tyrosine, tryptophan, phenylalanine, methionine).

In medical practice the use of chymotrypsin is based on the specific feature to break down necrotic tissues and fibrinous formations, to liquefy viscous secretions and exudates, and with intramuscular administration to have an anti-inflammatory effect.

Indications

Thrombophlebitis, periodontal disease (inflammatory-dystrophic forms), osteomyelitis, maxillary sinusitis, otitis, irritis, iridocyclitis, intracapsular cataract extraction, bleeding in the anterior chamber of the eye, periorbital edema after operations and injuries, tracheitis, bronchitis, pleural empyema, exudative pleurisy, burns, septic wounds, pressure sores (use locally).

How to take, the dosage

For intramuscular injection 0.005 g of the drug is dissolved immediately prior to use in 1-2 ml of sterile 0.9% sodium chloride solution or 0.5-2% procaine solution.

The course of treatment is 6-15 injections.

In case of respiratory diseases the drug is used intramuscularly in doses of 5-10 mg a day for 10-12 days, it can be combined with the use of chymotrypsin aerosolly in 5% aqueous solution in an amount of 3-4 ml. After 7-10 days the course of treatment may be repeated.

In treatment of burns and bedsores: Chymotrypsin in a dose of 20 mg is dissolved in 20 ml of 0.25% procaine solution and injected under the scab with a thin needle in several shots.

In treatment of purulent wounds: sterile napkins soaked with 0.025-0.05 g chymotrypsin solution in 10-50 ml of 0.25% procaine solution are applied to purulent wound surfaces for 8 hours. For treatment of purulent wounds intramuscular injections of the drug are combined with local wound treatment with tampons moistened with 5% aqueous solution of chymotrypsin.

In case of thrombophlebitis: the drug is administered intramuscularly 5-10 mg daily for 7-10 days.

In cataract extraction: Chymotrypsin diluted 1:5000 is injected into the posterior chamber of the eye with subsequent washing of the anterior chamber of the eye with 0.9% sodium chloride solution 4 minutes after the injection.

In the treatment of central retinal vein thrombosis and acute central retinal artery occlusion: Chymotrypsin is injected subconjunctivally in 0.2 ml of a 5% solution prepared on 1% procaine solution once or twice a week.

In sinusitis: the drug is injected into the appropriate cavity in an amount of 5-10 mg in 3-5 ml of 0.9% sodium chloride solution after puncture and irrigation of the cavity.

In otitis media: 0.5-1 ml of 0.1% solution of chymotrypsin in 0.9% sodium chloride solution is injected into the ear.

In microoperations on the ear to soften fibrinous formations in the middle ear: 0.1% solution of chymotrypsin is injected into the cavity during surgery. At the same time, chymotrypsin should be administered intramuscularly 2.5-5 mg 1-2 times a day.

The drug is diluted in 1-2 ml of 0.25-0.5% novocaine solution or 0.9% sodium chloride solution.

Special Instructions

It should not be injected into bleeding cavities or applied to ulcerated surfaces of malignant tumors.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity, malignant tumors, decompensated forms of pulmonary tuberculosis, heart failure stage II-III, liver cirrhosis, infectious hepatitis, pancreatitis, hemorrhagic diathesis, pulmonary emphysema, respiratory failure.
